We can over react or under react but either way it is what it is. Nothing much can be done about it other than what governments have been doing with shutdowns to slow the spread so everyone isn't in icu's at same time.
All the whining and constant scare mongering by the media and Andrea Horvath amounts to a pile of shit. Unless you're a hermit, you will likely get this sooner or later. Get vaccinated, wear a mask, be careful and hope for the best.

It' not like we are being asked to storm the beach on D day for fuck's sake it's just a virus. We will get thru it whole. Some people die but people die all the time. I think it's time we put things in perspective while respecting it.

Really. How many hospital beds are there in Canada per 1000? The French number(from France) is DOUBLE that of Canada. Germany has THREE times the number. Our ICU capacity is 25% of what you'll find in 🇺🇸. And only about 15% of the average EU standard. Furthermore, our ICUs run at over 90% occupancy and during the flu and cold season over 100%. Hence, the hallway medicine. We are sacrificing our people and the economy to protect the rotten system that cannot handle extra 1500 cases in a province of over 15.5 million.
Hospital bed are futile when there is no staff to handle the patient.

And they are meaningless. The discussion is about unvaxxed covidiots occupying hospital beds. Dead people are not involved in that.

Please stay on topic instead of deflecting.
More hospital beds are being occupied by fully vaccinated.

But who really cares how many people get hospitalized? As the amigos (Kirk D, kyle, c-m, jcpro etc) keep telling us, the virus is mild, hardly anyone dies and we are overreacting.
Only 20 new covid deaths reported today.

Good news from Windsor.

“Right now, there are 44 people at Windsor Regional Hospital with COVID-19 and 37 of them are being treated primarily for the disease. Six of those people are in the ICU, all being primarily treated for COVID-19. Five of them are unvaccinated and one is partially vaccinated.”

Bingo!

The system is fucked and needs an overhaul and instead of even looking into that, our government looks the other way

Our system is a monopoly, therefore not based on the outcome, but on the amount of funding that goes into it. In other words, we pay Cadillac prices for a Chevy.

And why should any of these issues be the responsibility of my 11 year old to manage. Poor kid have been locked up for a month. No hockey, no school or interaction with friends. and his mental health is taking a hit.

It’s March 2022 and Canada completely messed up with their Covid strategy this time.

Other countries are waking up and starting to realized this is now an endemic and needs to be managed as one.

Seems like they have found an effective strategy to up the vax rate - just require proof of vaccination for liquor stores and pot shops...

Lets break this down a little:

A senior cabinet minister has called for the UK to show the rest of the world how to move from “pandemic to endemic” Covid, as he suggested it would be helpful to cut the isolation period to five days to ease workforce shortages.

NOTE: Nadhim Zahawi is the UK Secretary of Education. This is like Stephen Lecce announcing the end of the pandemic in Canada.

But sure. Boris Johnson is definitely leading the pack in downplaying the current strain of the current wave, days after calling in the military to help stem hospital staff shortages.

Yes, I also remember how smug some were in the fall when the government brought in mandates that would lead to termination of the unvaxed first responders and hospital staff. Today, our hospitals are not too proud to put infected staff on the floor. I'm a nice guy, so I'll leave it at that.

It may work somewhat but you can order pot through the mail and have liquor/wine/beer delivered.

As of January 8, the 7 day average in Canada was 4,833 hospitalizations (708 in ICU) due to Covid-19. Not all are because of Omicron. Delta is still hanging around.
For reference, at this time last year the 7 day average was 4,357 hospitalizations with 860 in ICU.
In January 2021 0% of our society was fully vaccinated, about 1% had 1 shot.
In January 2022 77.6% have had 2 shots. 25.2% have had 3 shots.
