Where'd you buy it at? it had to be where the gift cards were from or were they those mastercard things that you can use anywhere?

And $50.00 isn't bad, I'd shit if it was a couple of hundred.....

Bought it from a "mom and pop" at a strip mall (free delivery you know) so I don't think they have a "never undersold" policy. I know I keep saying gift certificates but it is actually a preloaded credit card. Do you think a preloaded credit card has a low price guarantee? It is all a conspiracy.

Well, you can chalk your $50.00 up to the free delivery, you'd have to pay about that much to get it delivered from elsewhere.....

Do you guys use the PVR that much? I currently have a VCR and a DVD recorder and I rarely use them to record TV programs. I did use the DVD recorder to record my disintegrating VHS tapes onto DVD some months ago.
Trust me, the simplicity of a pvr makes you want to record more shows. I especially like the "record all episodes" feature (it's similar to TIVO's Season Pass).

Just a word of caution: sometimes rogers downloads updates to the PVR. Usually at 4 am and sometimes it does something to the recording schedule and your shows do NOT record even though they are scheduled. You have to cancel all recordings and then reset them again.

Another problem you have to watch for are shows that start early or run a little long. I can't tell you how many times I've missed the end of Fringe or House because they ran 1 minute past the hour. Showcase, Discovery, Spike, and a few others are famous for this.

but you watch a hell of a lot less commercials lol.....

Yeah, this has me worried too. When I was watching the World Juniors I was thinking, what happens if this goes into OT? You'd miss the best part!

Is there no manual override where you can just record until there's no memory left and then continue recording from the beginning?

If I'm worried about that I record the next show as well as the one I originally wanted. This way I get the endings for sure.

If you add an external hard drive you have a good extra chunk of memory if you need it.

That's a good idea. Does it have to be a special HDTV hard drive or just any type of hard drive?

You can get any external portable hard drive. I haven't done it myself, rubmeister has, and he said the 1 Terabyte drives aren't recognized so it has to be around 500/750 mb I guess.

It plugs into the usb port on the front of the PVR

Shoot. It never fails to happen. Found the TV I bought on Monday advertised for $50 less to-day. Shoot, shoot, shoot.
Went back to the store to-day with the ad and the gentleman there showed me the extremely fine print at the very bottom: "All Samsung products are refurbished."

Heard that the Samsung 40" model number LN40A530 is an excellent set.
I paid $799.99 plus the usual taxes in late December/08. Pass by the same store earlier this week and the same model is listed at $999.99. Salesman said that the sets for sale now were purchased with $1.25 CAD for each $1 USD whereas the December models were purchased with CAD at par with USD. Makes sense?
