Not everyone is suited for university or college. I’m glad they kicked her to the curb before she wasted anymore time. Think about how hard it is to get into Harvard and she’s pissed it away. I’m guessing mommy & daddy are thrilled.

You are right, I’m wrong. Even better - being kicked out of a tier three school

This was truly stupid, many people don't like their Freshman first semester roommate, you suck it up and see what you can do in the second semester.

On the other had the best roommate I had was a Nigerian student my Freshman year a truly nice guy who was an education major. I had my horizons significantly broadened rooming with him.

She said on her social media account that she put the roommate's tooth brush where "the sun don't shine"(I.e. In her ass).

How is this different from any other kind of hazing?
There really is not a "hate crime" element here at all
People are stretching

True, I think it was a case of jealousy. She referred to the victim as the "Jamaican barbie" probably because she's attractive while the perpetrator is not so much.

Really? Was she trying to join some 2-person sorority or something? Don't the people being hazed know they are being hazed?

It's not the actions that make it a hate crime, it's the reasons why she did it that make it a hate crime. she didn't want a Black roommate, so she tried to poison her with moldy clam dip and used tampons.

What makes the Dylan Roof shooting different from other mass shootings? The fact that he specifically blamed Black people for his failings and targeted them because of it.

TeeJay apparently doesn't understand that hazing is done by upperclassmen on freshmen. Not, one freshmen to her fellow freshmen roommate. You have to wonder about somebody who searches for a way to excuse this. Sheesh...

Seriously? You think there is no element of hate crime in this? Just simple 'ol jealousy? Girls being girls? Unbelievable...

They know what they're doing. They are just hoping there's someone dumb enough to believe the garbage passed off as "opinion."

SMH at comments like the two gems from these posters. Sounds like the other guy who was trying to defend the neo-nazi who drove his car into the crowd of protesters and killed the woman in Charlottesville.

Yep that's certainly part of it. Not sure if it is a hate crime, but I am bloody sure it is a crime. Full stop.

The author of the editorial based his thesis on a false assumption: That Hate Crime Laws only apply to minorities. Nothing in any of the Statutes specify this. The author simply relies upon evidence that, thus far, "hate crimes" have been charged predominantly against whites. But think of the possible reasons for this. Is it possible that minorities in the U.S. HAVE been targeted in far more cases than the reverse? The term "minority" would imply that statistically, you would expect more hate crimes to occur AGAINST minorities than the reverse. Either way, the author makes no case to support his initial assumptions. Eg: If a minority (eg: a black person) were to beat up or attempt to lynch an innocent white person, solely because they are white - then the same hate laws would apply. Did the author have specific cases where this did not happen?

yeah i have to agree, there is zero evidence that any of the perpetrator's disgusting actions were motivated by racism in any way, which is what would have to exist for this to be categorized a "hate crime". it looks like plain old harassment to me. it's like what, any time a white person commits a crime against a black person, it's a "hate crime"? nah, that's not how it works.

in canada, there are very specific provisions for what constitutes a hate crime.

"Sections 318, 319, and 320 of the Code forbid hate propaganda.[3] "Hate propaganda" means "any writing, sign or visible representation that advocates or promotes genocide or the communication of which by any person would constitute an offence under section 319.""
The specific section you need to quote is 718.
