Torontonians are waking up to some of the lowest gas prices they have seen in years following the elimination of the consumer tax on carbon as of April 1.

I filled up last night it was $1.86/L (premium). Had I known this I would have held off. Oh well. Good to see though.

Don't worry, the switch to summer gas will have it back up to $1.60 before you know it. Then Winter Gas will mean 1.75.

Gas stations and oil companies will gradually increase prices, just as they intentionally raised them the moment Carney approved the change for April 1. Over time, they'll slowly erode any savings, pushing the average price back to $1.50.

Yep, the Canadian Oil cartels need to capitalize. Do you think they are passing on the savings for good? Enjoy your last carbon tax rebate. Alberta gets the highest rebate, no more carbon tax at the pumps, but they are still going to whine and blame the woke Liberals.

Private storage of gasoline is illegal for Canadians. There is an exception for farmers, and perhaps for those living in some remote locations where there are no gas stations. Officially this is for safety reasons, but it also prevents profiteering.

Apparently changes to Federal taxation levies don't require assent from Parliament nor the Senate.

This is classic 'Pork Barrel Politics' at its finest; removing an unpopular tax during an Election campaign, hoping the voters will forget who imposed the tax in the first place. I doubt that this cost saving measure will result in lower prices for grocery store items.
