If Scottsdale's a "city", then Kitchener-Waterloo is a fucking metropolis!Los Angeles, California population: 3.9 million (probably much more)
Scottsdale, Arizona population: 260,000
Can we even consider that a city?

I picked Scottsdale because that is Matthews hometown, also it is where one of my friends bought a house for his retirement and I think that is where hockey hero Paul Henderson spent some time recuperating from his lung disease. Anyway, pick any American city you want.Los Angeles, California population: 3.9 million (probably much more)

Arizona has dry air. Paul Henderson.

It doesn't matter who said it. It's a ridiculously obvious statement and the fact that you repeated it is equally ridiculous. The dry air was mentioned in the phrase below as the reason why Henderson went to Arizona. Maybe I should have put quotation marks in the phrase for anyone who doesn't understand it is a quote but I thought it was already obvious.

Regardless, the fact that the air in a desert climate, such as Scottsdale, is very, very dry is common knowledge to an extreme degree. A fact as obvious as that does not bear repeating, let alone making a post exclusive to that tidbit.Fact: "He was limited to 46 games thanks to a case of tracheitis that led him to spend time in the dry air of Arizona to recover."

I spent over a month in the Scottsdale area just after the 2008/2009 financial crisis. Houses had dropped about 40% in value, I should have scooped one up. I loved it there but wouldn't want to be there in the summer where its routinely over 40°C.There are many great American cities. As an example, I offer Scottsdale (home of hockey star Auston Matthews). Ever wonder why people are fleeing hardcore lefty California for Arizona and Texas?
Scottsdale, Ariz. ranked among best cities in the nation to live (ktar.com)
That is completely untrue. There are cities in the U.S. that are safer than many of our cities here in Canada. No city is safe in the USA today. Too much crime, mass shooting, car jacking, murders, drive by shootings and the list goes on
All the great American cities have turned into killing fields.
One of my former work friend (now retired) bought a house in Scottsdale around 2008-9 as a retirement home for his wife and him.I spent over a month in the Scottsdale area just after the 2008/2009 financial crisis. His timing was impeccable. I could have bought a waterfront 2 bedroom condo that was going for over $700K pre meltdown for about $400K in 2010. Now they go for over $1.2M easy. One of my former work friend (now retired) bought a house in Scottsdale around 2008-9 as a retirement home for his wife and him.

I've never been to Arizona but my former work friend (now retired) said the heat isn't too bad because of the dry air. (Apparently, hockey hero Paul Henderson spent some time in the dry air of Arizona when he was experiencing breathing problems.)I loved it there but wouldn't want to be there in the summer where its routinely over 40°C.
Cost of living. It's the number one reason. It has not much to do to being a red or blue state to be honest. Actually if you look at how all red state are much poorer then blue state you start to wonder...Many Californians are leaving for red states like Arizona, Texas, Florida, etc.
