So I had recorded the final episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on Rogers Ignite last night, and sat down to watch it today. I looked at the length of the recording, and it said 41 minutes, a bit shorter than usual, but what the heck.

Then while watching it, in the middle of a scene it said the program had ended, and asked if I wanted to delete it.

Sure enough, when I went to "another source" for the episode it's actually 53 minutes long, so I downloaded it and am now burning it to a DVD, as it looked like a "keeper" right until it stopped recording on Ignite.

I understand if a scheduled show follows a special event, or a sporting event, and starts later than anticipated, but that wasn't the case this time.

Why can't Rogers get their recording times right?

I find half the shit I try to record doesn't even work.

On another note, the episode wasn't that good. I found as the years went by, many seasons weren't as funny. Still going to miss it though.

Rogers operates in a duopoly environment and does not have sufficient competitive pressure to drive it to excel in providing service. When I called to complain about service failures in the past, and threatened to cancel my account, they would put me through to customer retention and give me discounts and apologies. The last time I tried that, they called my bluff and said OK should we cancel you today then? Are you all set up on your other service? I was the one who had to cave in at that point. They do not give a PHUKK.

I don’t think Bell is any better. The stranglehold they have on us will end soon enough and I’ll be so happy when it does.

I do the same for sporting events, but not for regular scheduled broadcasts on ABC, NBC, CBS, or Crave. If a problem occurs I just download the show from The Pirate Bay and watch it at my leisure.

So basically they figure out you are addicted to them, and they know you are not leaving.

I personally believe that Bell and Rogers treat people like a tennis ball. They both want you for a year to switch back and forth.

It's not them the problem, it is the people. People should know when to walk away from bad service or a toxic company.

Same here. I set it for 30 or 60 extra minutes depending on the show. For example, when I record a Maple Leafs game I set an extra 60 minutes, minimum.

Argh tis the pirate life for me. Been meaning to ditch cable TV all together. Last time I checked, the Korean stations rarely if ever subtitle and the selection sucks and there isn't much on TV for me anymore anyways, and like hell if I am going to mess around with setting up and canceling a subscription just to watch one show, I mean Reacher, Tulsa King and Ted ranged from all right to pretty good but if I couldn't pirate them I could live without.
Ditto with my Kdramas, looking at maybe 8 shows a year worth watching, not going to subscribe to 100 different services to get them all.

A friend of mine had netflix but often even with shows that had a story line they would be missing seasons or episodes within a season. Not as if it's physical media, sure it was available in other countries, just companies fucking around with their IP. His reaction was "I am trying to do shit legally but you are making it very hard to do so"

Argh fuck 'em.

On a related note, what's a pirate's favorite letter.
It's not R, it's a letter of writ from the king of England guaranteeing safe passage. Joke is good, hope it doesn't make you tear up, it might leave a marque.

Cripes I bought an Android box for 50 bucks 7 years ago. Add on a few free tv apps, Kodi and I have paid for nothing since. We have unlimited internet for work anyway so no extra cost there.

Not as good for some live sports but I really haven't missed anything.
