I saw Thor last night on Welfare Tuesday. It was pretty good. I am not a comic book nerd so I liked the comedic edge to it. "The Agenda" was there and obvious if you went looking for it but it wasn't so in your face that you couldn't ignore it. As long as you lack the self respect to the point of paying to see a movie by people who hate you on the basis of race, gender and sexual orientation, and I lack said self respect. The ending was annoying with the Oprah style, you get to be Thor, you get to be Thor, everyone gets to be Thoooooorrrrrr bullshit. It worked in the last season of Willow the Vampire Slayers Best Friend but not here.

But it was money well spent. Didn't see Dr Strange 2, I don't like multiverse stuff. The other spiderman one with the black Spiderman worked but the most recent one, meh. Also a bit rotted with Dr Strange and Spider man.
SM: Come on fuck up reality
DS: No, that would be a bad idea.
SM: Come ooooonnnn please.
DS: OK sure, why not.

Like Paulie Walnuts said, " when you suck the money out of my ass".

I've been waiting for something new from Noah Emmerich after his brilliant run as FBI Agent Stan Beeman in The Americans. What makes it even more exciting, he's working with Jessica Chastain.

The totally fascinating Anya Taylor Joy survived getting garroted in Peaky Blinders. This doesn't look like Big Night, Ralph Fiennes (awesome actor) is in Red Dragon mode.

The modern film era begins in 1970, anything prior to that is known as the Classical Era. I was surprised by what I found, the usual suspects from the Classical Era are not in the Top 2, in fact Sergio Leone who holds the top spot with The Good The Bad and the Ugly was inspired by the maker of the No.2 film: Seven Samurai - Akira Kurisawa. Both are non-Hollywood films, not a chance would Seven Samurai be made today.

The Seven Samurai, no, but The Magnificent Seven would.
They remake that story all the time, the question is how and in what way.
That said, the cultural influence of Westerns to Samurai movies back to Westerns is really fascinating.

Saw NOPE yesterday.
I didn't like it as much as Get Out or Us, but still a good film.

NOPE is perhaps the most ridiculous film of the year but it worked for me. Daniel Kaluuya is a low keyed Nicolas Cage,I enjoyed it.

Ever since she showed up on House, there was something strange about Olivia Wilde. Granted she's physically gorgeous, she's also a raving narcissist. She has a new film coming out called Don't Worry Darling. She managed to mangle the film and destroy her family at the same time. She was too busy getting porked by some pop star called Harry Styles to actually direct, she ended her 9 year marriage to Jason Sudekis (Ted Lasso). The lead of the film, Florence Pugh hates her guts and wont be a TIFF to promote the film.

Harry Syles did nothing in Dunkurk, most of the ground scenes were carried out by Fion Whitehead...Styles just rode his coattails.

Jason Sudekis got even. He issued custody papers while she was at Venice. Some are saying he directed Booksmart.

Candy Ass pop star spit at Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), would he do the same to Jean Luc Picard?

Canada's Brendan Fraser has had a rollercoaster career.

About seven years ago, after a string of bombs, his career was just about done. Then he was in the mini-series Trust, which surprised the hell out of me with his range. It was about the J Paul Getty III kidnapping, he put Marky Mark to shame in a similar role in All The Money in the World. Now some are suggesting he's an Oscar favorite, look who is daughter is played by.

Can Sadie Sink look any hotter!? She wore a form fitting red dress at TIFF. Darren Aronovsky's latest film has an early score of 9.4.

I'm starved for a really good sci-fi film, there's hasn't been one since Ex-Machina. NOPE didn't fit the bill, it was a fun schlockfest.

Hopefully Vespers delivers, don't any of the actors involved except for Eddie Marsan. He was great as older brother Terry in Ray Donovan.

Tai West is making his pitch to take over Wes Craven's legacy (Scream).

The underrated X came out in the spring, now the prequel Pearl, of course Mia "fuckin" Goth is back in the title role perhaps the most unorthodox actress working. She never takes easy roles. She's a darker version of Aubrey Plaza and she's paternally Canadian.

...I'll let you know if it's better than NOPE.

Mia Goth's debut film was Nymphomaniac...no less. Like a good Canadian girl should.

This film is coming out before The Whale, even if it's a nothingburger it's significant, Hollywood is pushing Sadie Sink.

For good reason, she has charisma, burgeoning sex appeal and can project her voice better than actors twice her age.

Daniel Craig is back as Detective Benoit Blanc in this sequel to Knives Out.

He's going to have to do more heavy lifting in this film. Ana De Armas, Christopher Plummer and Jamie Lee Curtis were brilliant in Knives Out, he doesn't have them in the sequel.

Rocco at the Loafs game. He was actually here to do a Q/A early viewing of his new film.

As I've said before Venom: Let There be Carnage, set the bar low on the super anti-hero.

The 007 franchise does bequeath their ex-Bonds with lost lasting careers, Timothy Dalton is still going strong, Pierce Brosnan picks his projects.

The Long Good Friday is a classic.
