Edgar Wright who made his name collaborating with Simon Pegg (Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and At World's End) , who latest film was Baby Driver is going for the horror genre. He's reworking the Mephistopheles theme with two sensational young actresses fronting the film. Mephistopheles is a demon in German lore who grants fantasies with strings attached. This film is Diana Rigg's last acting credit.

ScarJo was excellent in JoJo Rabbit but Thomasin MacEnzie impressed me just as much. An Edgar Wright film with her and Anya Taylor Joy - I'm in.
I did not watch either of the films mentioned but I did watch the German classic Mephisto (1981) and The Twilight Zone: A Nice Place to Visit which could be be closer refrences. Or I could be totally wrong.

I don't understand why exciting young actresses are forced to work with hacks. Gorgeous Ana de Armas, has a new film coming called Deep Water. After Knives Out, she could pick the male co-star she wants (she's working with Chris Evans in a future project). Poor girl, like Rosmund Pike before her, she has to carry Ben Affleck's worthless ass.
When you're a raw talent and you get to work with a colossus like Christopher Plummer, in the words of Bob Fosse, it makes you a btter actor than you could have imagined.
During the Halftime Show of the Super Bowl, Sony released a teaser for Venom 2. Tom Hardy hired Andy Serkis to direct the film so that the symbiotes could be rendered in spot motion. I like the results, Venom moves like Tom in the movie. As is his custom, Tom likes to promote new talent in Jessie Vinning. I just hope there's more comic ad-libs between Dr. Dan Lewis and his "patient" Eddie Brock, the little there was in the first film was comedy gold.

Emilia Clarke and Daisy Ridley are having problems getting work. Emilia Clarke we knew, she got the kiss of death after her comedic Muppet turn as Sarah Connor in Terminator Genesys. When she said "come with me if you want to live" the audience laughed.
Daisy Ridley is a different matter, she's never actually gotten to develop a character, almost all the Star Wars films are toilet droppings. Prior to Star Wars all she had was bit roles. Then she became the All Conquering Female Jedi with not an ounce of fallibility. Which was a shame since she has some charisma. The problem with both these actresses is they are both a full year older than Emma Stone, not to mention the crop of very talented actresses born in the 90's.

It's been delayed twice. It was supposed to come out for the Holiday Season last year. Then it got pushed back to June 25, red flags went up, it would have competed with Venom 2 for asses in seats. Now it's slated of Oct 8 of this year.
Matera is a Unesco World Heritage site, major props for getting to film there.
