I have to wait another day before I can cut through the hype. Some are saying that Oppenheimer is to this century what The Godfather was to the last.

Christopher Nolan made a concession so as not to confuse audiences. The working title of the film was American Prometheus, he should have stuck with it.

Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon fits like Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer.

So far the best portrayal of Bonaparte was done by Rod Steiger with Christopher Plummer as Wellington.

I wish I was in Mr. Phoenix shoes, he has Vanessa Kirby and Ludivine Sagnier as his co-actors.

Vanessa Kirby is hot, Ludivine Sagnier is even hotter. As the heretic Esther Aubry, she made The Young Pope infinitely watchable.

Atom Egoyan's Chloe is a semi-remake of Swimming Pool with Charlotte Rampling and Ludivine Sagnier instead of Juliette Moore and Amanda Seyfried.

As of noon today, Christopher Nolan lifted the nuclear certain on Oppenheimer. My only beef so far is that he should have stuck with the working title, American Prometheus.

Cillian Murphy, due to his quite nature, is the most under-rated actor currently working.

Barbieheimer will surpass half a billion dollars in it's second film, all others are taking a distant back seat. It was a brilliant marketing ploy with two polar opposite films coming out together.

Oppenheimer IMAX is still sold out at the Cineplex Colosseum.

Btw Robert Oppenheimer didn't postulate about a chain reaction that could destroy the world, that was Enrico Fermi. The film got it right.

What to watch after Barbieheimer? The Last Voyage of the Demeter looks like a promising horror film, a ship carrying very dangerous cargo from Costanta to London.

Attack of the Killer Doughnuts!!!!!I'm quivering in terror!!!!

It's one of the horror classics that schlock scream queen/comic and former Playboy cover girl was involved in. She's currently sitting in with Jim and Sam, very bubbly girl. Naturally as a Playboy employee I had to find out what she looked like.

She describes her roles as "I have big titts and I die".

She was offered an exclusive Playmate contract, which don't necessarily work out for the girls. They are bound to Playboy for two years, she wanted the freedom to do other gigs.

Sofia Copolla is making another Elvis film, this time from Priscilla Presley's pov. I've never heard of the young actress playing Priscilla, anyone who's watched Euphoria will now Jacob Elordi. He's actually a better fit as Elvis than Austin Butler.

Oppenheimer, great drama, character study of the man. 3 hours flew by. Great acting from cast. Heard of people walking out of theatre. not liking it.

Also saw Equalizer 3, Denzel at his charismatic/violent best, this time he takes on a local criminal gang who are extorting a small village in southern Italy. Also stars Dakota Fanning, halfway through film , I realized they starred together in "Man On Fire" when she was only 10 years old.

Oppenheimer is a modern day classic, probably will go see it for the 4th time.

Christopher Nolan's gumba Tom Hardy is making a Goodfellas on wheels film with a great ensemble cast: The Bikeriders.

Finally went to see Oppenheimer. 3 hours I'll never get back. Kind of boring. Could have got the same info from a documentary. Thing that stood out was the throng of stars who were salivating at the idea of getting an Oscar. Acting their asses off in understated gravitas. Nuff said.
On a side note. The theater was nice and it was nice to actually go to a movie theater. Also pretty much all of the people there were fat and stuffing their faces with popcorn and pop. Some things never change.
Whoops. Just read that Christopher Nolan wrote and directed it. Apologies to him. Pretty impressive. Although I didn't much like it, I have to take my hat off to him for that. The boy is no slouch.

I wasted 9 hours on that film, it taught me how little I knew about Enrico Fermi. He took too many risks and died of stomach cancer due to radiation poisoning, he was 52. His assistant David L Hill helped him construct the first nuclear reactor (brilliantly played by Rami Malek). Fermi loaded the nuclear cells into Trinity, he and the army personal who assisted him did not live into the 60's.

On a lighter note, The Greatest has anew film. It looks like a psychological thriller masquerading as a light comedy.

Just saw Nicholas Cage's "The Retirement Plan"

Cage as a retired government assassin forced out of retirement to help his daughter and grand child out of a jam with mobsters.
A laugh out loud action comedy also with Jackie Earle Haley and Ron Perlman (he stole the show) as the baddies and Ernie Hudson as a good guy.
7/10

Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese will be vying for silverware come early 2024. There is another film on the radar, it may be the most quietly disturbing film of the decade: The Zone of Interest.

It is about the seemingly perfect home life of Rudolf Hoss...I have a feeling audiences will avoid it in droves.

Paul Giamatti is expected to vie with Cillian Murphy for Best Actor. I've already seen this film, I'll save a review until it opens wide. As a character actor Paul Giamatti takes a back seat to no one.

Tommy Boy Cruise blamed Sofia Boutella for The Mummy bombing, he wanted to end her career. The producers guild didn't listen - good thing too.

Instead of another 007, a new super-spy has been created named Argylle, played by Henry Cavill. He has the very hot Ms Boutella and Dua Lipa to play with.
