Any time a large money making corporation starts talking about ethics you know they're full of shit!
Especially in Disney's case, the corporation has always been soulless.

Did Gina Carano deserve to be blackballed, in the long run probably not, her crime is being stubborn and having no filter. For Disney mendacity has been their legacy. Walt Disney was a Hitler fan, Anti -Semite and a rat, nothing much as changed. The Critical Drinker nailed it, but I left out the last item. Rian Johnson doesn't deserve it - Star Wars has always been a big brown log.

- Predatory corporate takeovers.
- Endorsing PRC concentration camps
- Overpriced shitty theme parks
- Aggressive promotion of identity politics to feed their bread and circus.
- Erasing black employees to curry favour with the PRC.
- Union busting when it suits their purpose.
- Hollow "family values" sloganeering.
- Innovators of sweatshop/ child labour.

I've added a few to TCD screed.

In theory, there should be LOTS of Bill Burrs out there. Hollywood is filled with millionaires that would live perfectly fine if they never landed another movie role or comedy gig. But their silence goes to show you the level of cowardice of your typical celebrity. Being rich is called F-U (F*ck you) money. You can speak the truth and not have to worry about your next meal. When you have it, use it.

Wonder if Gina liked Dr. Seuss books?
Let's just keep pretending that cancel culture isn't running amok.

That's nice. Gina had a friend and he's loyal to her.

Still on this thread, huh?
Not a friend, but a co-star who used the same words to describe her as I did in earlier posts. SWEETHEART!

New information came out, so yeah, thread lives on!

When something else becomes available I'll be sure to post just so I can rub Your nose in it.

Rub MY nose in it?!

A friend does the polite thing and tells what a great person she was?.... Meanwhile, she's still fired, she's still without an A list agent and she's still working for shitflecks in a straight to stream D movie company apparently part-owned by Ben Shapiro and based in Dallas.

If this is your idea of a triumph, I'd hate to see what your idea of a disastrous loss is.

But keep on with the thread. Maybe if you keep it going another 60 pages, another friend will turn up and say what a great gal she was when she still worked in Hollywood.

Isn't cancel culture just a modern version of scapegoating?

Was there ever a time when you could say anything you wanted free of consequences?

What do you mean?
Could you explain more here?

Of course not.
What i mean by that is the concept of placing blame on a person by a group.

Gina is being blamed for having said some controversial things but is she really thst bad? All she did was parrot ideas. People are really more upset about the ideas she parroted. But instead of targetting the source of those ideas they went after Gina.

Dont get me wrong. I dont have a ton of sympathy for her becasuse she shohld have known better and she had opportunities to recant.

So my point is that some people are keen to latch onto the term cancel culture. But i believe the shunning of people for their beleifs is as old as the bible. If not older. And this practice has been used by most political and philosophical and religious slants.

Shunning sure. I agree. Very old.
I'm just not sure you can say cancel culture is scapegoating. That seems a different dynamic.

Ok, here’s how to fix the Mandalorian post Gina Carano.

A lot of people (self included) loved her character, but since she’s not coming back, I have an idea.

Why not make the character, Cara Dune “transition” to becoming a male since the universe is so free and progressive.

And then, get Joe Rogen to play “Charlie” Dune!

Problem solved! The character lives on and someone from the mma community stays with the show!

Or just say F$&k it and get Katelyn Jenner to play the part.

Everybody wins.

Then of course, I could be wrong.

She became a marshal. There is no reason she would show up again anyway. (If anything, she would show up on that other show about the New Republic pilots trying to keep the peace.)

Bill Burr is benefiting from Doug Stanhope's hardship, And he stands to lose nothing by praising Carano.

I get what you're saying but we're judging her on what she was saying. She is responsible for it.

Her not being resigned is a totally other issue and that is the right of the company to decide. The issue would barely be remembered if it the Seuss/Mr. Potato crowd weren't trying to claim it's the end of the world.

I am a Liberal (In principle)....

"if" she was actually let go because of her beliefs, that is kind of bullshit. You are allowed to believe different things than me. (You will be wrong of coarse), but you are allowed.

Just like Roseanne should not have been fired by ABC. Spoken too... sure.

Don Cherry... again... that was no way to send him off.

(Ron McLean can fuck right off though!)

While the window for Colin Kaepernick to be an effective QB has closed.... he also should not have been black listed.

Rednecks boycotting and burning Nike's... all while complaining about cancel culture... a joke.

Where are all these perfect people who can represent us? (On either side?). And what is the obsession with digging in everyone's past, and personal life... lol.

There has to be middle ground between a free pass, and terminated.
