Depends on which definition of the word "guess" you are using.

If you mean postulate based on insufficient information, than you are wrong.

If you mean to estimate or postulate correctly you are right.
I mean that when they are making/administering the vaccines, they are not sure if it will be the correct one for whatever happens to be the dominant strain that particular year. Call it an educated guess, as I do appreciate the studies they do give a pretty good idea. Regardless, some people will not be protected against the other strains.

My doctor said it's too early now since elderly and the young need their shots first. Not that I'm a spring chicken but it will be another two weeks or so before I get mine.

How much of the benefit comes from herd immunity? As a percentage.
The welfare model of medicine. Everyone else pays and you suck on the collective tit.

Biggest flaw in the plan is when other people start doing the same thing - no herd immunity.

And not to be a nit-picker but I do not understand that antibiotics cause bacteria to mutate. They can cause the evolution of bacteria through natural selection, but they do not cause mutations per se. I do recall reading that some viruses do mutate fairly quickly because of the nature of their genetic material, but said mutations are not caused by drugs.
Exactly. The antibiotics kill off the weaker bacteria off first, leaving behind the strongest to reproduce and pass on that strength.

One problem here is that there a great number of flu viruses, not just one, and the flu shot available is not effective on all of them.

In effect, all they can do is guess as to which has the greatest chance of affecting us and then hope they guessed right.
True but the best guess of the variants still offers more protection than not having a flu shot.

You seem to be twisting the facts. We all pay and can all benefit. If some choose not to that their decision. You can't fight stupidity.

One in every crowd

The system has always been aware of this, and the standard written instructions in Canada for taking anti-biotics has been to take the entire course..
I realize your an expert on this subject also,...but you are wrong,...again.
Before you runoff at your mouth,... just what is "always"

Is it possible some doctors did not give those verbal instructions to every patient every time? Sure...
Not only was it possible,...instructions HAVE NOT ALWAYS included any instructions to finish the coarse,...or verbal,...which is ridiculous,...or otherwise.

Is there any evidence around that the evolution of bacteria and viruses is because of some sort of mass failing in doctor's verbal instructions? Not that I have read.
..
FIRST,...counselor ,...that’s an insult by the way,...I never said any of your lawyer ,...that’s also an insult,...like creative quoting above.

I also realize the MAYO CLINIC is not quite up to your level of knowledge,...but they seem to think that this has actually happened.

. For example, if you take an antibiotic for only a few days — instead of the full course — the antibiotic may wipe out some, but not all, of the bacteria. The surviving bacteria become more resistant and can be spread to other people. When bacteria become resistant to first line treatments, the risk of complications and death is increased...
Being the expert you are, arguing terms, instead of focusing on the point I made,…but the end result is,...bacteria change when antibiotics are not used correctly.
Which WAS the case, and in some countries, still is,...why the hell do you think that organizations world wide are making these comments more recently than in the past.

If you want to call me a liar, that’s fine,...but I, and other people I know have been told by people actually in the profession that antibiotics were NOT properly used in the past, being over perscribed, and also proper instructions, if known at the time, were NOT given.

Before the vaccinations, millions died from measles, mumps, diptheria and whooping cough! Surely you nay sayers don't want those days back again.

I don't get flu shots because they have nanobots in them for the government to control your mind.

Health Canada suspends distribution of Novartis flu shots
That is why I am not in the first wave to get the flu shots. If nobody dies from the first wave I might join the second or third wave. (Same when they come out with a new O/S. Let other people go first and if they don't get killed, then you can follow.)

I saw on the news that only 20% of the flu vaccines in Canada is from Novartis. Just check with your doc first or the clinic where you get the shots.
