I was just wondering what are your views on firearms. Also what do you think about Canada's Firearm Safety Training Programs. I personnally am pro positive firearm use and and anti negative use/misuse. Also I would like to say that the firearm training that is manditory to poses, aquire, and use firearms is pretty good. I did my non-restricted and restricted not to long ago and learned a hell of a lot. So what are your views?

A firearm is as dangerous or safe as the person using it. Your training is good, your attitude is everything.

Good.

I totally agree BigBLACK, also a interesting fact I learned in my training was, in dfirearm deaths, suicide is the leading one. Didn't know that. On a side note always remove firearms from a stressful situation.

I was about to say the same thing. Some people find it recreational to go to the local club to fire off a few rounds. Plus can't forget competition.

not my thing, but sure, switch hunting for recreational to include hunting, targeting and competition. but I honestly don't see why anyone needs a handgun (target with a rifle)

By your words an armed police force is a bad police force.

Guns are tools and nothing more. Hand Guns are no more dangerous then a riflle.

THe question of are there guns we don't need can be answered in a word YES.

Military weapons belong in the military and on the battle field.

Nic is that short for Nicole. We kill defenceless animals every day. Whether it is building subdivisions or plowing fields for vegetables animals die as a result of our actions. We have to eat and an animal that lives in a natural environment that is supported almost solely by the hunting industry (what have you done lately) and is not scientifically improved i.e. hormones and antibiotics is surely better than how we produce our food.
When those animals stop having any practical use the big machine will roll over them with no resistance because people like you will whine about it but you will not put up nickel f*#king one to preserve habitat.

That is there lot in life to provide food and they are ok with that..why can't you be. Pull your head out of your ass there is real people dying and suffering. I personally don't mind doing own dirty work I got to eat and I am not about to start making apologies for being at the top of the food chain sweetie!!

What a Stupid thing to say......what make you think that your life is more valuable than someone else's just because they look different or speak a different language?

Ok.....but maybe the intensity should be turned down a notch . It's beginning to make me nervous that you have a gun .

The number of people who have guns is way out of proportion to the people who *should* have guns. Melt em all down... go back to hand to hand combat where you can see the whites of their eyes and the leaders are on the battlefield as opposed to the other side of the planet via satellite and the world would be a better place...

Whether firearms are good or bad depends on which end of one you find yourself.

Nic I think all people are equal and equally valuable but I do not put animals equal to humans...that is just silly..as for the intensity of attack sorry but where the hell do people get off attacking hunters with name calling and as if they are suppose to automatically assumed they need to defend themselves. If you talk and mostly LISTENED TO HUNTERS and maybe experienced a hunt your opinion would change. Hunting is not for everyone that is fine, but knee jerk opinions about something I feel is very strongly about and am very proud of is going to get a reaction from me every time.

As for handguns once you give your right good luck getting it back.
I do not own a handgun but kudos to those who responsibly fight for the basic right to defend yourself. Although the PM is anti gun do you see him leave home without one at his disposal. well his life is no more valuable than mine. Next it will be semi auto guns..then long rifles ect..the slippery slope. With all our paranoia and fear we give up our rights to quickly.

Johnboy, I appreciate your Point, but to me, a life is a life animal or human.

The handgun part I agree with - there is no need for a sidearm unless your LE or Army. But I quess you could get rid of squirrels with a 22
These days, unless you are LE or security, there is no lawful use for a hand gun except on a certified gun range. You can't target shoot with a handgun even on your own propetry unless you go through the hassle and expensive of building a private range; which still must be certified by the appropriate legal authorities.

Although I respect other peoples choices, I personal am not interested/or believe in hunting animals for sport. Killing an animal to protect human life or for sustenace is ok, but not for sport.

People who hate hunting never seem to be able to really
have a logical reason why they hate it.

Vegetarians seem to defend not eating meat with killing defenseless animals.

Anyone ever see a lion rip the guts out of an animl while it is still alive or a baby deer killed by a pack of hyenas.

Nature is much more cruel than man. A clean shot by a rifle is
much better than the death that all animals face in nature.

A lot of Hunters are responsible and care about protecting the environment for the animals which they hunt (yeah, self-interest I know). But my point is that there are also the irresponbile oes who just want to 'kill something' to stroke their 'big man' egos. These are the one's that I have a real problem with!
