Nobody mentioned Lisa Lampanelli. I was at her show when she came to town several years ago, when Paris Hilton was popular, and Lisa SAVAGED Paris. But she identified herself as an insult comic, so it was all good. Otherwise, like others I don't discriminate on the basis of one's sex. Either they are funny or they are not. This reminds of Jerry Seinfeld. Several years ago he was taking heat for not picking comics from all walks. He said - I have no requirement to hire a woman, or a disabled person, or a black person.. I only care if you are funny.'

I just googled her, and she has retired from stand up. She's now a life coach.

"I'm like most women. I hate gender income inequality, but I'll only date men that make more money than me"

That's my donation to any female comic that wants to use it.

"My boyfriend says he likes me for my personality. He says the problem is that I have 10 of them and he doesn't know which one he'll wake up to in the morning"

My second donation to any female comic that wants to use it.

Old Italian joke:

A farmer's son is sick with the flu. The farmer, concerned, gets on his jackass Leggero and visits the doctor. He asks the doctor, how can I get my son better. The doctor replies, "dovere mangiare leggere". The farmer gets home, slaughters Leggero and feed the meat to his son...the son dies.

Orange is the New Black, made me a Natasha Lyonne fan. She may be a female Jack Lemmon.

...so much for translating old Italian jokes.

Recommended by Ron Bennington, so you know she has to be fuckin funny.

Thanks, she's hilarious; I would pay money to see her if she did standup in a Toronto comedy club. Here's some bio info about her, for the curious, (no page on Wikipedia):

I find it sad when female stand up comediennes receive applause because the audience agrees with what's being said, (or they clap because others are watching to see if they do), but there is no laughter because the material isn't funny. This video clip is quite the opposite; this is not a quiche-eating comic. Her subject matter is female oriented, but her delivery isn't, which I found very refreshing, as opposed to the self-deprecating heard so often from the disciples of Paula Poundstone. I laughed out loud at parts of this routine, and you should, too, unless you're one of those... 4.6/5

I would rate Bea Arthur ahead of her, she was the first true female stand up comic

Something in Joan River's DNA of which we were not aware? Always thought she was female...

Joan Rivers is very funny, she's a full decade younger than Bea Arthur who was doing stand up in the 1950's. The show The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is partially based on her life.

Bea Arthur was the only woman allowed to roast Frank Sinatra - different world.

In regards to Manic Pixie Prostitue, the two actresses that played the manic pixie girl best this century are Keri Russell (The Americans) in Waitress and Kirsten Dunst in Elizabethtown.

If Kirsten Dunst doesn't win the Best Actress Oscar this coming year...may I shoot diarrhea in the general direction of The Academy and called them out as tiny brained wipers of other peoples bottoms.

In my mind, the funniest stand up female comedian was Joan Rivers. My favourite line of hers. "You know as a woman when you are old, is when you bend down to touch your toes and your tits hit the floor first."
