For me, Magilla Gorilla, Grape Ape and Rocket Robin Hood were shows I could never watch and that's something coming from someone who still watches a lot of cartoons.

Oh, and Scooby doo was my favourite (but I hated all the spinoffs it begat).

For fans of Super Friends:

Does anyone remember the old Batman and Robin animated series in which Catwoman (in yellow tights) teams up with Clayface (He turns into a shark in one scene)? Does anyone know where to get the video?

Does anyone know where to get Flintstones music (Let the Sunshine in, I Love you but I ain't Gonna be a Fool, Bedrock Twist, Rockin Bird, Here We Come on the Run with a Burger on a Bun, ...)?

HEre are some that haven't been mentioned that I enjoyed as a kid.

Force Five it was on CFMT and it was basically a anime loosely based on a old traditional chinese story. The cartoom was about a monk travelling across space escorted by 3 sci fi heroes the main one being a guy with some magic staff.

Tom and Jerry surprised no one mentioned it. Not as timeless as Bugs but still cute and enjoyable.

Gummi Bears (but I was 9 at the time so its probably not very good today).

Justice League/Legion of Doom cartoons used to come on after school back in the mid/early 80s.

Silverhawks.

He Man.

But the all time best has to be Bugs Bunny unless you count the Simpsons. In which its too close to call IMO.

here, there and everywhere!
Felix!!!

So far no one has mentioned my all time favorite - Felix The Cat and his wonderful bag of tricks. I used to get up at 5:45 on Saturday mornings to sit down with my bowl of cereal and watch Felix at 6 am.
Whether it is true or not I don't know, but I once read that Felix was the first picture ever broadcast on television.

Between a rock and a hard place
Did anyone like the old Star Trek animated series?
How about the Flintstones?

If you answered yes to both you'll love this:
STONE TREK - Where no caveman has gone before.
Lots of short mildly amusing episodes in flash animation and links to websites suggesting other series:

Lost In Trek
Sea Trek
Toilet Trek
The Treksons
SeinTrek (Yadda Yadda Yadda)
Mahir Trek (whatever that is)
Trek Rats
The TreX Files (The Trek is out there)
Dragon Trek
The Trekkie Bunch

The wonderful, wonderful cat
Whenever he gets in a fix
He reaches into his bag of tricks

Felix the cat
The wonderful, wonderful cat
You'll laugh so hard
Your sides will ache
Your heart will go pitter pat
Watching Felix, the wonderful cat.

Top Cat was based on Sgt. Bilko aka The Phil Silvers Show.

They keep releasing so many DVD's of old shows but so far I can't find Bilko. It's driving me crazy.

My favorite, from the time I was about three years old, was always the Inki & the Minah Bird cartoons from Warner Bros. From the past ten years or so, it's definately Animaniacs. You get a good sense of the different ages of people on the board by what they consider to be old cartoons.

Since no one else has mentioned it - how about "Rocket Robin Hood". It used to be paired up with "The Amazing Spider-Man".

Both series had similar styles and recycled music and scenes. In fact some entire episodes of "Rocket Robin Hood" were used in "The Amazing Spider-Man" by substituting Spider-Man for Robin Hood on the animated cels.
The coolest thing about these series is how, as the 60s progressed, the animation and storylines became more and more bizarre while the cheesy cartoon soundtrack got replaced by vintage experimental acid rock. One of the last episodes of Spider Man was even banned by ABC because of some blatant drug references :D

In the original Incredible Hulk (which has the worst animation ever -- makes RRHood look like Pixar) it was interesting in that the US ARmy were almost always the bad guys. Like the aforementioned shows (siperman, rrhood) this show was the brainchild of anti-establishment hippies. The kitsch value today is enormous.
