How about "The Mighty Hercules" and his sidekick, Newton the centaur.

Since no one else has mentioned it - how about "Rocket Robin Hood". It used to be paired up with "The Amazing Spider-Man".

Both series had similar styles and recycled music and scenes. In fact some entire episodes of "Rocket Robin Hood" were used in "The Amazing Spider-Man" by substituting Spider-Man for Robin Hood on the animated cels.

Oh the land of Oz is a very funny place
Where everyone wears a funny funny face
All the streets are paved with gold
And no one ever grows old
In that funny place lives the Wizard of Oz

Ahhh... 5 o'clock on a Sunday morning, and I'm up watching the Wizard of Oz... memories....

Given that this is TERB, funny how nobody's mentioned Penelope Pitstop, or Josie & The Pussycats, as childhood obsessions...

Then there's the Animaniacs (sp?).
I love their line when they make someone a "special friend". "Be afraid be very afraid"

Rocky and Bullwinkle

Rocky and Bullwinkle has to be right up at the top of extremely funny shows.... "hey Rocky watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat"

No Votes for Yogi Bear? "I'm smarter than the average bear" or
"Hey booboo boy"

What about Huckleberry Hound, Mighty Mouse, Pepe La Phew (part of the Bugs Bunny Hour) and The Tom and Jerry Show...

My parents would marvel at how difficult it was for me to wake up for school, but I would be up religiously at 6am to watch Cartoons and Saturday mornings....

Still gonna have to go with Transformers, Thundercats, and Voltron (those were made around the mid-late 80's so I was like 6-11, so they qualify as old for me).

rocky and bullwinkle was definitely funny. I didn't get many of the jokes when I was a kid, but I laughed more at the cartoon as I got older.

Roger Ramjet, same thing... there was definitely a lot of wit thrown in amongst the slapstick humour for the kids.

Anyone remember Bennie & Cecil?
It was Beanie and Cecil.

I'm gonna date myself, but how about Ruff and Ready. "They often have their little spats, even fight like dogs and cats, but when they need eachother that's when they're Ruff and Ready".

And even older (I barely remember it myself) was Gerald McBoing Boing. All I remember is that he couldn't speak but could imitate the sound of anything in the world and that he was sponsored by 7-Up.

As I type this I recall another character (I forget which show he was on) called VaVoom who could blast holes through mountains by using his ultra loud voice.

Bugs Bunny is the all time champ no questions asked--the ones with the opera singer, the wrestler, elmer fudd, marvin martian ("the aludium Q-36 explosive space modulator!") etc will never be topped. I could go on and on. My alltime fave is "Duck Amuck" with Daffy at the mercy of an unseen animator that turns out to be Bugs. Absulutely hysterical.

My second fave would be the Flintstones especially the one where Fred inherited the mansion with the homicidal servants from his Uncle Giggles. Honourable mentions to the episodes with the way-outs, the Russian spy chick, the Beau Brummelstones, Ann Marg-rock, Stoney Curtis, and Boulder the detective ("when you lie on your back and cry on your pillow, tears get in your ears. Boulder's Rule."

Have there ever been better produced cartoons than Bugs et al? They're timeless. I developed my appreciation of classical music from them. Not sure if it's still around, but there was a touring production (Bugs Bunny on Broadway, I think) that had a stop at Roy Thomson. They screened several cartoons with a live orchestra. It took cartoon watching to a new level.
