If we fail then so dramatic changes are needed. Here's a question. Who's the bigger underachiever? England or Spain?
That's a tough one. Spain has more talent than England but is in a slightly tougher group. However, everyone expects Spain to screw up or at least not play up to expectations. I would probably say the because of the hype, England would be considered the bigger underachiever.

Spain, at least England has won the World Cup.

Stevie G scored 2 goals today, and you know why?

Forget for a minute that they were playing Andorra, but because Lampard wasnt on the field!!

Calling Dr Bombay, calling Dr Bombay; England scores on Andorra.

Italy 2 Scotland 0 ...is this the same team that beat France?

No one can ever accusse Roberto Donadoni of being without nads; it was a major risk to play this match with Andrea Pirlo on the bench. Word got to him that Alex MacLeish would play a five man midfield; Donadoni counters with The Triangle (4-3-2-1). This was not a football match this was suffocation. I may yet see the Azzurri do the double (WC2006, Euro2008).

And now we have two matches against the Pharaoh Islands. As the little girl in Poltergeist said "they're baaaack".

So let me get this straight. Italy beats Scotland at HOME and you're proclaiming them as European Champs? A little short sighted dont you think...

They still have to get to the big dance, and they are in a tricky group. You have to walk before you run...

Did you guys know the Euro is harder to win then the world cup????
Yes in the WC they play one more game, but the talent is severely watered down

the Euro is much harder to win the WC, the quality between teams is closer than WC, you will never have a Saudi Arabia or some other slacker team that are just filling in the numbers because of votes they give to FIFA members. Anyone can beat anyone else at Euro, look at the last tournament a tiny country like Latvia with the combined population of parts of TO makes it and Greece wins it.

I don't think so. 9 different European countries have won the Euro Cup. Only 4 different European countries have won the World Cup. Stats don't lie.

Thanks for your world cup stats but actually your theory is off a bit. Even though you're correct about the World Cup Stats, the entire field in European Championship is a lot stronger. Only 2 of the top 10 teams are not playing in the European Cup; Argentina & Brazil. So when the tournament starts it's more then likely that only the top teams in the world excluding the two I mentioned are in the tournament. That's why the European Championship is much harder to win. There's hardly ever an easy win or a huge mismatch like the World Cup.

Obviously you dont have a PHD in statistics, you cant rank a tournament more difficult by
the variety of its number of champions.

plain and simple the Euro is the WC without Brazil and Argentina, this is why they need to have a two tier system, one for the likes of Brazil, Italy, England and Spain etc, and the second for sides like Saudi Arabia, Andorra and Angola, it will never happen though as long as the greedy fat cats at FIFA keep lining their pockets and getting votes from the weaker confederations to stay in power.

You agree then it's a flawed statement. You can say that the field in the Euro tournament is more on par, but not that the tournament is harder to win than the World Cup. Spain, Russia, Greece and Denmark have all been able to win the Euro Cup, but haven't even come close to winning the World Cup. Ask them which tournament is harder to win.

Very good point my friend. Then let's say that the European Championships is more competitive then the World Cup.

Much to my dismay it appears that the Serie A gorging on stranieri has begun anew.

Ronaldinho will be at Milan and Steven Gerrard with Juventus for the 07/08 season.

Why is that so bad? It may liven up a boring league.

Not Ronaldinho. Apparently he will stay at Barca until 2010.

If Juventus doesn't want Gerard I hope the goofball directors at Real take notice .
