Well, first off, I'm not usually one to chime in here and badmouth anyone or establishment, but I felt that I needed to pass this info on.
I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who also hobbies in Ottawa. He was telling me that he called Essence to make an appointment to see Carole, and booked for a half hour approx 45 mins after his call. He started to head out there from his office and ended up having a fender bender. As he was sitting in his car, he called her and told her that he wouldn't be able to make it, since he had to wait for the police and file a report and then figure out if everything was even drivable (turns out it was). He said that when he spoke to her, she said "No problem, but when you come in next time, you owe us $40 for the cancellation. We need atleast 1 hr notice to cancel without a fee". He then told her that he only booked the appointment about 15mins ago and that even if he was able to make it, it would have been less than an hour before the appointment that he booked. She said, "Sorry but that's our policy, so next time you are in, you owe $40 for this cancellation".
I'm sorry, but I know that too many people do no shows, but that just seems rediculous to me. I mean, how do you expect to get people to come and see you if they have to spend money for a cancellation that he actually called her to let her know a half hour prior.
Sorry for the rant, but after he told me that, I won't be heading back to see her or her staff anytime soon. It's a shame too, cause she gave a good massage.
