Well, first off, I'm not usually one to chime in here and badmouth anyone or establishment, but I felt that I needed to pass this info on.

I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who also hobbies in Ottawa. He was telling me that he called Essence to make an appointment to see Carole, and booked for a half hour approx 45 mins after his call. He started to head out there from his office and ended up having a fender bender. As he was sitting in his car, he called her and told her that he wouldn't be able to make it, since he had to wait for the police and file a report and then figure out if everything was even drivable (turns out it was). He said that when he spoke to her, she said "No problem, but when you come in next time, you owe us $40 for the cancellation. We need atleast 1 hr notice to cancel without a fee". He then told her that he only booked the appointment about 15mins ago and that even if he was able to make it, it would have been less than an hour before the appointment that he booked. She said, "Sorry but that's our policy, so next time you are in, you owe $40 for this cancellation".

I'm sorry, but I know that too many people do no shows, but that just seems rediculous to me. I mean, how do you expect to get people to come and see you if they have to spend money for a cancellation that he actually called her to let her know a half hour prior.

Sorry for the rant, but after he told me that, I won't be heading back to see her or her staff anytime soon. It's a shame too, cause she gave a good massage.

if your friend is not a regular, he could just use another name when booking an appointment next time. LOL
The owner of Essence should fire that girl.

wow, what a memory!

wonder how much $$$ she's cost herself with that policy ... and wonder how many guys have actually stopped by to pay her the cancellation fee?

Happened to me too. I won't be back - ever!
I switched to different MPs & have been rewarded with fabulous service. I hear another MP is opening up near her very soon. Cheaper rates & better service too. Stay tuned.

Maybe Carol has a point that she has taken appointments for clients, told regulars that she was booked up and then got burned when the appointments didn't show. Probably why she started the secret membership code thingy. I remember years ago at the place on Catherine St. when as a first timer, you would pay $30 for a session and $5 extra to become a member. When you called to book again and they asked for your membership #, then they knew you weren't a cop because you'd been there before. Most hotels will charge full pop for a no show. Good thing Carol is not asking for $100 cxl fee.

This is going to be a mild flame. To the honoured members, sorry about this...
yak2432 - What world did you grow-up in? I was a regular bud - not the other way around.
This is a people business, so among the good & bad, Carol has to accept the risks she's decided to take-on. I thought I was a good client cuz' I showed-up on time, paid her, was good to her, and did regular business with her. One time timetable F-up should not be major penalty. So, in conclusion, if this is what she thinks of men, she needs to wake up to the fact that time & bad reputation is catching up with her. She also has a not-so-good rep from other MAs too. Uh-ohhhh:eek:

So, the new biz that's starting is in Bell's Corners. Younger chick. Hopefully with this build-up, she won't fu*K us too. We'll be watching.

I would tell her to s*ck my b*lls. If I had $40 for everytime a MP or SP didn't answer the phone or door I'd be rich!

Generalizing from some of the member stories that exist on here about all MPs/SPs:

If this was a place with a bad no-show rep for the MPs (which it doesn't sound to be), it'd be nice to go to them and say "$40 minus the $200 I haven't been able to spend in the past due to attendants missing appointments. You pay _ME_ $160, and we'll call it even..." :)

Think that would work?

Yah got me. I agree charging a regular a no show charge should be a no no. Regulars should be her bread and butter and she should've treated you better. I too have been burned by MA's doing the switcheroo. First time at La Renaisannce, I booked a session with Diane, she meets me at the door, takes me downstairs, I shower and then Sylvie comes in. Older lady, mid-50's did not stay but I did go back however and made sure I got a session with Diane.
