The end of that Italy/Scotland game was quite bogus...I have no idea on earth how Italy was awarded that free kick which resulted in the subsequent winner in 90th min.
That is why Chiellini is one of Italy's brightest prospects, if Weir had not made contact with him it would been a goal kick. Bring on the Pharaoh Islands.

It was Hutton and the contact was made by the Italian, you clearly watched a different game. The brightest cheating prospect I assume by the way.

Now England just need a point thanks to Israel!!

England will be very hard-pressed to qualify for Euro now.
1-2 loss against Russia took care of that.

Not a good day people, not a good day :(
It's not over till its over.
The idiots could still lose to Croatia !

After watching the replay I'll admit that it was a blown call; Chiellini did obstruct Hutton and it should have been a goal kick. With the Di Natale non-goal and the Ferguson goal, the match was officiated poorly throughout.

Here are Cannavaro's comments about the fan support:

Cannavaro talked about the sportsmanship of the Scottish fans, who cheered their heroes at the end of the match despite the defeat, an attitude he hopes Italy will take over in the future.

"I hope this type of thing will happen also in Italy, it doesn't take a lot and it would be bad if it didn't: our football wins in Europe and the world, but it must also do so outside the pitch," he concluded.

as long as they don't field a 352 formation again and as long as Becks starts, I expect a England win.

While that is partly true, and would,nt shock me Croatia have qualified
and have nothing to play for. Travelling to
Wembley with the England fans behind the
boys only needing a draw really favours them.
The loss of Rooney & Owen will hurt, but I,m
confident a 1-0 England win!

"Send her victorious, happy and Glorious, long to Reign
over us, God save the Queen" ENGLAND! ENGLAND!

Esco!, my pussy feasting friend, please, this is a bittersweet moment for me.

THE FRENCH ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE, AND WE LET THEM OFF THE HOOK!

The French are nothing without Zizou, they had the advantage of facing the Azzurri in September twice and they almost didn't qualify. If Italy faces France at the Euro, Le Blu are going to get skinned!

David Beckham 23

I'll bend it like........
Esco I'm still in shock. Could England squeek their way in?

COME ON ENGLAND!!!

The folowing teams have qualified for Euro 2008:

Austria/Swtizerland (hosts),
Poland, Italy, France, Greece, Czech Republic, Germany, Croatia, Spain, Romania, and Netherlands.

So that leaves 4 spots left...Portugal more than likely will unless Finland win 8-0 @Portugal, Turkey is a point up on Norway, England need a point, as do Sweden to qualify.

It is you who jests Beck.

England has a better team than France, they suck. They played two games against a hung over Azzurri and couldn't put the dagger in. They rumbled, bumbled and stumled against Scotland. They only managed to qualify by getting full points against Lithuania and the Feroe Islands. Without Zidane, the French are poseurs, all they have going for them is arrogance.

The draw in December is gonna be real interesting.

The coefficient is very simple... (sum of points for qualifying in WC 2006 & EURO 2008)/(sum of matches played)
That means the seeds are in this order (excluding hosts and current champions)

1. Holland - 2,522
2. Croatia - 2,381
3. Germany - 2,364
4. Sweden - 2,338
5. Italy - 2,333
6. Czech Republic - 2,304
7. England - 2,286
8. Portugal - 2,240
9. Romania - 2,217
10. Poland - 2,217
11. Spain - 2,143
12. France - 2,140
13. Greece - 2,130
14. Turkey - 2,006
15. Russia - 1,913
16. Serbia - 1,901
17. Finland - 1,560
18. N. Ireland - 1,381

Put that into the pots and you get this:

Pot 1: Greece - Austria - Switzerland - Netherlands
Pot 2: Croatia - Germany - Italy - Czech Republic
Pot 3: England - Portugal - Sweden - Romania
Pot 4: Poland - France - Spain - Turkey

Thats gonna make for possibly three Groups of Death

It would have. That would have left everything down to the last game for France and Italy. :)

I was assuming the tie breaker was goal differential?? In that case Portugal is ahead of Finland. Let's suppose Finland beats Portugal, then if Serbia wins their last 2 games, Finland/Portugal/Serbia will all have 26 pts and I have no clue what the tie breaker is.

And if the Scotland/Italy finished 1-1, then if Ukraine beat France, Scotland and Italy would have qualified.

This is what I dug from the UEFA website:

Tie breakers
If teams finish level on points, then the winner of the match between the sides in question will finish highest, or should they have drawn, goal difference, followed by goals scored, qualifying record for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2004™, a fair play ranking and finally either a penalty shoot-out or drawing of lots.

They could be there for a week sorting that lot out!!
