Wiki says its still open
Lick's Homeburgers & Ice Cream was a Canadian restaurant chain. Only one restaurant continues to use the name Licks (in Parry Sound). The company continues to sell frozen food. It is owned by Lick's Concepts, Inc., a private company. The first Lick's opened in 1980, operated by Denise Meehan, who then turned the concept into a franchise in 1984. At its height in 2012, the chain had 30 locations,
Yeah, you repeated what I said.

That all locations in Ottawa and Toronto closed except one in Parry Sound.

Also, I have tried their frozen burgers but they don't compare to a fresh in house Lick's burger.

The store bought Lick's Guk Sauce though, is a staple in my fridge.

Forgot about the Ponderosa but it still exists in the USA or at least did. Found one by accident on a road trip.

Wiki says perhaps 300 of them exist somewhere. I loved my random visit to one in the USA. They closed in 1986 in Canada but a few where around for a while till taken over by Red Lobster.

The chain engaged Trinity Capital LLC as its financial advisor in 2016 and was sold in late 2017 to FAT Brands, the owner of Fatburger, Buffalo's Cafe, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Hurricane BTW that have a total of approximately 300 locations open and 300 under development in 32 countries
Unlikely to be the same experience as it was. However, I was a kid back then and everything seemed better when we were kids.

Bassels Restaurant, Yonge & Gerrard. Florida Tearoom and Kaye's Open Kitchen both owned by my mother back in the 1950s.

Some of mine have already been mentioned but here they are:
Mr Greenjeans @ Eaton Centre,
Lick's @ Kingston Rd & other locations,
Gingsberg & Wongs @ Chinatown,
Chi-Chi's @ multiple locations (something different back then that I could afford during student days),
Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips (@ multiple locations. Food nothing special but all you can eat specials appealed to young males on a budget),
Frank Veteres (deep dish & a stein memories),
Mothers (a hang out 4 a workplace during student years).

I forgot Kultura on King East around Jarvis. That place was great and incredible interior work done to it. Then something happened and it was gone. They spent millions on the interior of that restaurant. It was always busy.

Alao, Xcuti on College, now home to Dailo I believe. The owner had something great, but didn't think he had to pay people apparently. Who knows. But they were good.

Steak n’ Burger
Corkscrew (pre Frankie Tomatto)
The Fish House
The Colony Steak House
Sure do remember the Fish House on North Woodbine. Loved their free shrimp appetizers. Also the Corkscrew had a lot of great looking girls there.

Sea-Hi Chinese food on Bathurst near Wilson.

Officially, it qualifies for this thread, but it will be re-opening in a month or so further north at around 7000 Bathurst.
Never been worth the trip if as good as before?
