You 'sheep' leaf fans do the same crap every year! It 20 games left and TML's are only 7 points out of that playoff spot!

You might as well start planning for the Blue Jays and Toronto FC. Those CRaptors won't be doing much either come playoff time, but I guess Torontoians are accustomed to losing.

I think those voting that they will make the playoffs need to say so in this thread... Last time this kind of thread was posted when there was the slimmest chance, it was montreal and ottawa fans voting 'as leafs fans' to make them look delirious. Ok. We get that Toronto is not a great sports city like new york, chicago or pittsburgh, but this kind of rubs their nose in shit. This team made some very good moves for the future over the last few days.

Thet don't deserve to make the playoffs. The thought of them making the playoffs and using that as an excuse to keep Wilson makes me GAG!

This is the time of the year the Leafs shine. Get themselves so far out of the playoffs, and then go on win streak in the back third of the season in meaningless games. Ultimately they still miss the playoffs.

I don't really care if they make the playoffs this year or not. I am hoping that they can show year to year improvement and build a solid base and work ethic so that in a couple of years as all these young guys mature together and they can be legitimate threats for the Cup for an extended period of time instead just making the playoffs. As far as this year, I am only hoping they do well enough so that Boston doesn't get another really high draft pick again. Making the playoffs this year is really quite insignificant in the long run.

I think a more interesting team to watch in the playoff race is the Devils. They are on one hell of a run after their incredibly horrendous start. Still a long way to go but considering how so far they were behind it's amazing that they are now approximately 10 points behind 8th (don't know the exact number).

The one difference is Remier ... That type of goaltending makes crazy things happen ... To think what Reimer is doing is not even yet at the level of Thomas ( Bruins )
Reimer will eventually regress a bit - he can't keep up the pace - not many could.

Who was the french goaltender that gave them a nice run in the last quarter of a season, I would say maybe four years ago?

Can't remember his name.

I did some research : 2005-2006. Jean Sebastien Aubin 9-0-2, 2.21 G.A.A in 11 games down the stretch.

Time will tell if the shooters will find his weak spots, if he has any. I think the Leafs won't make the playoffs. Once they get within 4-6 points of the 8th spot, the pressure will get to them.

Carolina, Atlanta, and Buffalo are pretenders. Toronto controls its own destiny and may just sneak into the last playoff spot although the stupid Buffalo Sabres may get a boost with a good butt kicking from its new owner Pegula.

Looking at some archived threads, guyroch was quite the Aubin supporter. Boy did that blow up. 21pro was right. JS Aubin was a disease in the dressing room.

I calculated that the Leafs would need 16 wins and 1 OT/SO loss to get 90 points. It maybe enough to get the 8th and final playoff spot.

I'm a life-long Leaf fan but I think they should not make it and look forward to next year. What's the use making it to the dance, if you can't dance with the big teams.

Playoffs are totally different animals. Once sneak in, the Leafs may find an invisible gear and do some damage to other teams. May the force be with them.

Why try for the playoffs this season ?

Maybe, just maybe if the Bruins got a late season surge into second in the East and the Leafs not only made the playoffs, but got into seventh place, that would put them up against the Boston Bruins. IF that happened and the Leafs could somehow knockoff the Bruins come June the Leafs would pick ahead of the Bruins. What a great turn of events that would be !

Yeah I know, but it remains a possibility.

The Leafs most probably will not make the playoffs til next season but at least they haven't written off this year yet! I like what Burkie is doing with the club. If he continues on this path I think next season might be the year they finally pull it off. If we do make it this season (that would be cool) I cannot see them winning more than 1 game in the first round. Who would we likely end up playing? Philly? Not a chance against them!

So much of their future depends on how many of the remaining games are against those team between the Leafs and the playoffs. These 4 point games are the best vehicle to the post season. I can happen.
