So..We have a product in this country..that we KNOW can kill you and create a multitude of health issues...but as long as you are 18...you can make a conscious decision to purchase and consume this commodity?
WTF is this?
Does this freedom of ...CHOICE.... pertain to other things too???
Seeing the results of this poll as it stands now is up lifting. Seventy five percent don't smoke. Fantastic. Maybe someday we'll put the tobacco companies out of business through lack of demand.
Nope. I also don't do drugs or drink heavily. I've seen what these things can do to people, especially drugs. They can take high-functioning individuals and enslave them. I've known people I was so sure would be highly successful in life relegated to homelessness, and many more are jobless.
No, my vice is sex. It tends to be a healthier obsession! :thumb:

Not even close. There's actual health benefits to having some alcohol in moderation.
Now since it's the nicotine that gets people hooked and it's what smokers crave a short time after their last smoke, why don't they set limits and reduce the amount yearly until it's down to zero? The government has the ability to do this.
And since nicotine is one of the least harmful ingredients, why the hell doesn't the government allow the sale of e-cigarettes like they do with over the counter nicotine gum? Anything that helps get people off actual cigarettes will save the healthcare system lots of money in the long run.
I don't believe for a second the amount of taxes collect on smoke even comes close to paying for all the diseases caused by smoking.
I smoked a little bit casually when in my late teen's/early twenties but never been into cigarettes since then. Don't really get the appeal... I think I only smoked back then because my friends did so it was just sort of the thing to do.
