I use to snow blow my neighbours driveways, 7-8 car driveways when I first got my machine, when I would clean my own driveway by hand it would take me 45min, I found that since I got the snow blower I would be outside for 3hours everytime it snowed. No one showed any appreciation, they thought its wasy with the machine. now we are into my 3rd season, I don't do anyones driveway, if its light I shovel mine by hand. otherwise i use the machine when I get home around 6pm by that time most are done.

Your place!!
I live in the country and have a tractor with a blade. It takes a couple of hours to do my place. I will clean the ends of the neighbors driveway but nothing else since i possibly could do some damage to their driveways and don't want to have any problems.

Always cleared my neighbors drive after a snow storm and especially after the plow came by with a snow blower, sometimes 4 neighbors if I had the time. It just felt good to do it and they always appreciated it.

I actually love when it snows cause I like to get the snowblower going....I enjoy it. That being said I will do neighbours...walkways etc. Some neighbours seem appreciative....some give money (although I always say no)....some I have never seen.
Guess it is my way of spreading a bit of kindness as well as enjoying myself.

For your snow blower to save you 8 to 10 hours a year, you must either have epic snowfall/drifts where you live or a really long/wide driveway. I live in the city and have a double drive. My idiot neighbour will start on his driveway with his snow blower. I will go out with my shovel and finish the job before him every time even though I am many years and pounds past my prime. Using the idiot neighbour as a benchmark, my shovel saves me time over the snowblower. I do have a snow blower, but have not seen a snowfall this year requiring me to fire up its Briggs & Stratton.

And yes, my shovel and I (and even the teenaged son) have shoveled all or parts of five driveways in the neighbourhood. But unlike you lucky fellows who shovel for fuck buddies, I am surrounded by widows.
Simple. You had to use your muscles to move the snow, while your neighbor did not. A snowblower is not a necessity for many, it is all about a better more comfortable standard of living.

Anytime it snows 10+cm I break out the snowblower and do mine and my neighbor's long driveway. It's easy and fun. I always look forward to lots of heavy snow so I can tackle it with ease. Boys with their toys and all that.

Central Ont. between here & there
this is a no brainer
I have had one for a number of years & always helped my neighbors when I can. I've moved a few times & bought a new one a few years back. I have several older retired neighbors & always help out, especially after a big snow fall & when the plow goes by. yes I shovel mine too when less than 3"

Heck I even cut grass for them when they are away.
treat others as you want to be treated...
heck that even comes true when visiting with the ladies. treat them nice with respect & see what comes back your way.

I can't not shovel my next-door neighbour's driveway when it snows heavily. Or bring in her recycling bin if its still left out in the evening. Or gather her mail if its piled up and she forgot to ask me to collect it for her while she's out of town. Etc. Its the Canadian way, simple as that. Be nice to people.

Except in TERB's PIA. Lol.

For some reason I refuse to help. I have a snow blower and my neighbour has one. My other neighbour doesn't. One day, the neighbour decided to be nice and go around and help people. My neighbour that doesn't have one , came over and started to direct him where and what to do. He never helped him again.

the people across the street just put in a 25,000 dollar pool in the summer, I think they can afford a snow blower. My neighbour that doesn't have one, just a shit load of cash to change location of their front door which i found to be dumb. Also they bought a new car and are doing renovations to their house.

I fired up my snowblower today and cleared my driveway and then helped my neighbour who was shoveling with a teenaged boy. Neither one even bothered to thank me so I'll never be doing that again.

When I was a kid only one guy in our neighborhood (Minneapolis) had a snow blower, he struck a deal with me that I could use it if I did his driveway. My father said he'd pay for all the gas I could burn if I did his. Two driveways and it all profit - super easy as it was self propelled. There was one retired older lady in our neighborhood, I started doing hers for free, once she chased me with money and I just waved at her. After that every neighbor paid me to do their driveway.... And made a killing. Good they didn't know I bought beer and pot with the money... But that's another story.

Pay it forward.

I do my neighbour to the north of me every time it snows, Im banging his wife every now and then so it's the neighbourly thing to do. The neighbour to my south is a dick, so I purposely skip him and the drive way beside him even thought we only from time to time, maybe one day his wife will pay me the same, then I can introduce both ladies to each other and write a review on here

Did 3 of my neighbours driveways and sidewalks today. At some point they have all had / have snowblowers. When I didn't have one, they did mine.

I don't have a snowblower and I did my neighbour's driveway and sidewalk today.
I was out doing mine, it was relatively nice as long as I kept moving, so why not.
I did the sidewalk in front of the house on the other side as well.
The second one has a patch of grass that's adjacent to my front yard and I always do their lawn when I do mine.
I always get thanks yous or waves from them.
Not looking for anything more.

neighbours on both sides have their own, but when they didn't I would do their sidewalk, but not their driveway. The single mother across the road, I would do her driveway and sidewalk, and some elderly neighbours would also get the full treatment.

Did you do the good work for your neighbour when he was around?
Unless it was an open business transaction with my neighbour and his
wife I would be too uneasy to clear the driveway in his presence.
