Simple. You had to use your muscles to move the snow, while your neighbor did not. A snowblower is not a necessity for many, it is all about a better more comfortable standard of living. For your snow blower to save you 8 to 10 hours a year, you must either have epic snowfall/drifts where you live or a really long/wide driveway. I live in the city and have a double drive. My idiot neighbour will start on his driveway with his snow blower. I will go out with my shovel and finish the job before him every time even though I am many years and pounds past my prime. Using the idiot neighbour as a benchmark, my shovel saves me time over the snowblower. I do have a snow blower, but have not seen a snowfall this year requiring me to fire up its Briggs & Stratton.
And yes, my shovel and I (and even the teenaged son) have shoveled all or parts of five driveways in the neighbourhood. But unlike you lucky fellows who shovel for fuck buddies, I am surrounded by widows.
Sounds like a way to replenish the hobby fund lolWhen I was a kid only one guy in our neighborhood (Minneapolis) had a snow blower, he struck a deal with me that I could use it if I did his driveway. My father said he'd pay for all the gas I could burn if I did his. Two driveways and it all profit - super easy as it was self propelled. There was one retired older lady in our neighborhood, I started doing hers for free, once she chased me with money and I just waved at her. After that every neighbor paid me to do their driveway.... And made a killing. Good they didn't know I bought beer and pot with the money... But that's another story.
Pay it forward.
Same for me . Helped out 2 people and not so much as a thank you from them . Never again !!!I fired up my snowblower today and cleared my driveway and then helped my neighbour who was shoveling with a teenaged boy. Neither one even bothered to thank me so I'll never be doing that again.
Did you do the good work for your neighbour when he was around?I do my neighbour to the north of me every time it snows, Im banging his wife every now and then so it's the neighbourly thing to do...
