do you help your neighbors shovel snow if you have a snow-blower?

I would not trade sex for hard labor. I do know an attractive single lady that has he own house and is well off. I go over and make sure her computer is in good shape and I am available for emergency calls when her computer locks up. While you have to do hard labor for your sex, I get my fuck friend for a few key stokes. So I do not clean snow when I am at her place. However, I did convince her to get a snow blower a couple of years ago. She loves it, and can not do without it now.

At less than $700 ( on special ) for a snow blower these days. It is just not economical to do without one these days. The snow blower saves me about 8-10 hours hard labor a year, how much is that worth? Every year a few guys keel over from exhaustion while trying to clean heavy snow. A $1000 snow blower breaks down to about $50-70 a year over 20 years.

Where not good friends, we are neighbours, we don't give a damn what nationality you are, your politics or your lifestyle, we help each other.
Why?
We are a dying breed, were neighbours.
You have good neighbors, I have a lot of spongers and douche bag slime around me. All the good people moved away or passed away from my street. I can not do things for people that I know will not do things for me. A smile and a thank you is nothing without the appreciation.

On our street we have a number of adult children who never left home or left and returned after their divorce. They never shovel snow, never mow the grass, never pick up the leaves, never take out the garbage, never clean the eavestroughs, etc. No, I don't have a snowblower.

P.S. There use to be 3 young girls from up the street who would clean the snow in front of our house and we would tip them $2 each.

Like I said in the other post, I use to clean the snow for the old lady next door, and I have an arrogant prick on the other side like you do.

A funny story, a few years ago I would notice the arrogant prick in his window watching me clean the old ladies drive way before I cleaned my driveway. This jerk never looked in my direction or talked to me. On one occasion when I had finished cleaning the old ladies driveway and was almost finished cleaning my driveway, the arrogant prick got dressed and came out and stood at the end of my driveway. As I pushed the snow blower to within a few feet of him my snow blower died. I checked the tank and said : Ache.....empty! I yelled...........Manpower! Ran and got a shovel and cleaned up the last 5ft. x 2ft. by hand. I am guessing that he was about to ask me to clean his driveway.

BTW- I had plenty of gas that I could have filled the snow blower with in a gas container.

I don't see the point of having a snow blower in Toronto. I just shovel my elderly neighbours driveway and mine and that is it. Occasionally I shovel my other neighbours sidewalk and he does the same for me. It depends who gets out there first. The way I look at it I have two neighbours, not 20.

For your snow blower to save you 8 to 10 hours a year, you must either have epic snowfall/drifts where you live or a really long/wide driveway. I live in the city and have a double drive. My idiot neighbour will start on his driveway with his snow blower. I will go out with my shovel and finish the job before him every time even though I am many years and pounds past my prime. Using the idiot neighbour as a benchmark, my shovel saves me time over the snowblower. I do have a snow blower, but have not seen a snowfall this year requiring me to fire up its Briggs & Stratton.

And yes, my shovel and I (and even the teenaged son) have shoveled all or parts of five driveways in the neighbourhood. But unlike you lucky fellows who shovel for fuck buddies, I am surrounded by widows.

Yes I do.I think I live on one of the few community minded streets left in the GTA. I do not have a snowblower, but I do have a shovel and rude good health. Some of my neighbours do have snowblowers.

The way we seem to work it around here is when it snows, whoever is around is out and clearing sidewalks, then starts on their own driveway then on to helping neighours. Evenings or weekends, the kids all get thrown together to annoy each other in the snow and the grown ups clear the snow. Beer usually is involved, and occasionally BBQ which is a huge amount of fun in the middle of winter.

A snow blower is a time and labor saver, when the snow is heavy it saves labor, when the snow is light it saves time. There were times when there is just a thin layer of very light snow that could be done with a shovel, but even in these times I use a snow blower. I have a 2 car driveway that slopes into the basement. When the snow is light and fluffy.
I use a shovel to push the snow from the sides to the middle of the driveway and then use the snow thrower to throw it off the driveway. It is the lifting or pushing up of the snow that is tedious and strenuous.

Let me finish that for you.......................................

If you want me to come over and wiggle my ass on your driveway for an hour with a snow blower in front of me, I would expect that you would be appreciative enough that when I was finished you would put your chin on your sheets and let me wiggle my ass behind you!!!!!

A little early,...

Waiting for some one to say,... that using a snow blower to clear your neighbours’ driveway was instigated by the labour movement in the 1600 century,...

My laneway is 190' long and there is a retired couple that access their back driveway from mine... so I blow out there bit as I do mine. In return, he brings my garbage pails back up every week... win-win.

They're also my unofficial watchmen. I'm away a lot, and they keep an eye on my place whenever I go.

When we first moved to our house in 2009, I used to do both of my neighbours driveways when I got home from work around 5am. I figured it was the least I could do since I was snowblowing at 5am lol. Plus one was a cop and the other was a vice president of a large company, so I figured it was always a good idea to have friends in both places lol. 2 years ago I managed to drive both neighbours away, and an older couple with a snowblower moved in on one side. I do theirs, or part of theirs once in a while now, but he's usually home more than I am, and I work days now, so he usually has his done before me now. He never does ours, but his wife makes our kids treats all the time. The other side has a young couple now. The first winter they were here, I did the heavy snow for them, especially the end of the driveway, all the time. In the summer, he wouldn't go three blades of grass width across the property line when cutting the grass between our houses, so now I figure he can shovel his own damn snow. I should add that in the fall, I do rake leaves from his side of this between the houses area as well. I'm not a total heartless bastard though. When we got our 70cm surprise dumping at the end of November, I did blow out the end of his driveway when the plow came, but I did leave the rest his driveway for him to take care of. I do however blow out the city sidewalk to each of my neighbours driveways, rather than stopping at the width of my property.

As for whether it's faster to shovel or blow, I guess it depends on how much snow there is. My driveway is almost 800 sq ft. You don't just shovel the snow once from the middle 10 feet or so. You have to get it over near the edge and then get it off the driveway. I don't know how many fitness professionals would classify the act of shoveling to be "a good workout" rather than something causing damage, but for sure, to be done healthy and safely, shoveling will be a lot slower than blowing. Of course, when shoveling, people tend to not do it properly, which is why they end up hurting themselves or having heart attacks doing it. However, with a couple inches of fluffy snow, I shovel it, or if we are expecting a warm spell a few days later, I let it sit there.
