Both British and U.S. Intelligence chiefs are publicly saying that they suspect a bomb.

The U.K. has banned all British Airlines from flying into Sharm el S_heikh Airport.
My guess is a bomb. Although a little surprised nobody has claimed "we did that".

ISIS probably did shoot down the Russian airliner. With our modern technology, all it takes is a shoulder mounted weapon with a tracking device, nothing too fancy, and it's already known that ISIS is operating in the Sinai.

Shrapnel appears to suggest an explosion from WITHIN the plane, although I suppose that still doesnt necessarily mean a bomb

But as previously stated, not at 31,000 feet.

News reports today say bomb - airliners simply don't spontaneously explode at altitude.

How will Russia react? Unlike the West, the Russians only have one rule of engagement -------namely, "kill them all".
However they react, it will be a lot different from the Malaysian airliner shoot down. Which was done by the people Russians supported and with Russian hardware.

Another news report said that victims had shrapnel wounds which were indicative of a bomb.

IF ISIS did this, then not even the Russians are immune from terrorists.

I hope we find ways to improve intelligence against ISIS and efficient methods to exterminate them.

During the Lebanon hostage crisis of the 1980's, only one Russian was ever kidnapped. The Russian special forces kidnapped the brother of the kidnapper, killed him, cut off his privates and stuffed them in his mouth and dumped his body in a public place. The Russian hostage was released unharmed and no Russian was ever kidnapped again.

Really? Fuck that's worse than storming a theater, killing terrorists and a few of the hostages as collateral damage.

Or when the Americans shot down an Iranian passenger plane 20 years ago and killed everyone on board. (They gave the captain of the boat a medal even.)

But non-intentional I think most people would agree. I don't see why the Donetsk republic would want to piss off Malaysia or the Netherlands.

They hit over 300 targets in Syria in the last 2 days so they are apparently unleashing hell.

They gave him (Capt Will Rogers III) a medal because the US never really admits making mistakes, but he never commanded another US Navy ship again. They quietly cashiered him one year later, IIRC.

The ship in question, USS Vincennes, was nicknamed 'Robocruiser' by crew of other US Navy ships in the area. It had a reputation.
