However they react, it will be a lot different from the Malaysian airliner shoot down. Which was done by the people Russians supported and with Russian hardware.
It may come as a shock to you, but most of the military equipment in the Ukraine armed forces is Russian/Soviet. Ukraine also has BUK-2 missile systems.

It's still not conclusive who actually shot down the aircraft. The BUK missile system manufacturer, Almaz-Antei, claims that the blast pattern of the exploded missile on the aircraft reflects that of an older warhead, not in the Russian inventory anymore, but still in the Ukrainian inventory.

They hit over 300 targets in Syria in the last 2 days so they are apparently unleashing hell.
The difference with the American led campaign in Syria is that the Russians are using targeting information supplied by the Syrian Army (which is actually engaged on the ground fighting terrorists), whereas the US has very few contacts on the ground except with the Kurds. The US doesn't really know what to bomb, and that's why they've been ineffective.

Yes I think the Syrians give them targets, they verify with drones that it meets their ROE and the planes take out the targets. It amazes me at the guffaws and criticism directed towards the Russians, they have proven they can deploy and operate at a very impressive cadence. Even their older planes like SU-24 and 25 are proving to be extremely effective.

I think Assad also made the same offer to the U.S. but the U.S. refused to accept intelligence from a brutal dictator. You know, we are morally superior and all that. The Russian have no such moral scruples and that is probably why they are more effective.

BTW: A word of condolence to the family and friends of John Gallagher (R.I.P.). He is one of 30-100 Canadians who walked the talk and actually fought ISIS on the ground.

It's got nothing to do with a brutal dictator. The US wants Assad out because Assad didn't want to play ball with them: become a client state under US control. The US is not going to accept any targeting information that is going to result in him staying around longer. The US doesn't really care either, whether Al-Qaida takes over Syria. The US has been propping up brutal dictators for at least a century. One notable one was the Shah of Iran. There were dozens in Central America alone over that century.

But non-intentional I think most people would agree. I don't see why the Donetsk republic would want to piss off Malaysia or the Netherlands.
Are they going to compensate the victims' families?

The only reason it's not conclusive is because Russians are obstructing the investigation at every turn. As for the inventory claim-that's meaningless. It is a fact that the Putin backed separatists were given the Buk system to counter Ukraine's air superiority.

More and more the evidence is pointing to a bomb placed in the cargo hold. Apparently, a very small bomb can do enough damage to bring down a plane. Egypt and Russia, probably for political reasons, are denying the bomb theory.

If the separatists had BUK systems, they didn't need the Russians to give them any. They apparently captured a whole BUK missile regiment from the Ukrainians when they captured one of their bases in the Donbass.

If the Dutch are conducting the investigation in their own country, how is it that the Russians can be obstructing the investigation?

Putin has just banned all flights there from Russia.

With what? They are broke. The US only offered compensation when they were sued by Iran and they really only did it to avoid the sorry, pathetic details being revealed in court. Including the fact that their ship had illegally violated Iranian territorial waters when it shot down the Iranian plane.

And there you have it: http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/06/middleeast/russian-plane-crash-egypt-sinai/index.html

Black boxes show bomb brought down Russian jet

European investigators who analyzed the two flight recorders from the Metrojet plane that went down last weekend in Egypt are categorically saying the crash is not an accident, CNN affiliate France 2 reported Friday.

The investigators said the cockpit voice recorder of Metrojet Flight 9268 shows an explosion and the flight data recorder confirms the explosion is not accidental -- there is no sign of mechanical malfunction during the initial part of the flight, France 2 reported.

Everything is fine during the first 24 minutes, then in a fraction of a second there is a blackout and no more cockpit conversation, convincing investigators there was a bomb on board, according to France 2.

CNN Aviation Analyst Richard Quest said there would have been different data on the black boxes if there was a catastrophic failure than if there was an explosion. The key is what happened just before the data suddenly stops, he said.

"It's this split second, and it's a millisecond, where you hear an explosion of some description," he said. "And you see all the parameters (on the recorders) go haywire before the power is completely lost. If this report is accurate, (investigators) have now analyzed that ... heard it and they can identify it."

If the plane had broken apart due to structural failure, there would have been more noise -- and for a longer time, he said.

France's air accident investigation agency, the BEA, told CNN that Egyptian officials will make an announcement about the crash investigation within the next 24 hours

Of course Assad considers anyone opposed to him a terrorist including the people that the US is supporting (and the peaceful protesters at the start of the whole conflict).

The US supports these groups for the sole purpose of ousting the Assad regime.

Whatever you consider Assad to be, the fact remains that the US has little targeting information, thus yielding little effect on ISIS. The Syrian Army has been fighting ISIS for a couple of years, and know exactly where they are. The recognized and legitimate state of Syria has offered the US information on ISIS positions, but the US refuses to accept that as that would legitimize the Assad regime. The US' only action against ISIS is to limit its expansion towards Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the Kurds. That leaves ISIS free to move west and threaten the Assad regime, with is perfectly fine with the US. In other words, ISIS is a proxy for the US.

As for the terrorists the US is supporting, what's left of the 'moderate' Syrian rebels are coordinating their actions with Jabhat Al-Nusra, an Al-Qaida affiliate (remember who brought down the WTC) under the banner 'Army of Conquest". If they were not, they would get wiped out by the latter, as most of them have been in the past, unless they actually defected to Al-Nusra before, or managed safe passage by handing over their US and Qatari supplied weapons.

The only factor that may salvage US policy in the area, is putting US boots on the ground. The resulting air cover and self imposed no-fly zones could lead to a direct confrontation with Russia.

I disagree. The US supports those groups to fight ISIS. They have a choice of many groups to support and I agree with them that Assad is not worth supporting. Assad started this whole mess by violently repressing protests. I see no reason to reward him for butchering anyone who dares disagree with him.

And Assad's targeting is not just ISIS targets but rather anyone he sees as a threat.

The last of the players to come to that decision..clearly wasn't in a hurry to ensure the safety of Russian travellers. Then I again one has to ask, who in their right mind goes on vacation to countries with known Isis operatives roaming about..fucking morons. Not feeling sorry for anyone's stupidity after.....

This...from July 2015........

Extra armed guards have been drafted in to the resorts of Sharm El-**********h and Hurghada after 50 Egyptian government troops were slaughtered in the latest escalation of ISIS-linked violence in North Africa.

The security advice for British tourists visiting Egypt follows warnings about the safety of hotspots in Turkey and Tunisia - all hugely-popular with British families during the summer months.

ISIS attacked more than a dozen military bases in the Sinai province on Wednesday, killing Egyptian soldiers in a series of coordinated attacks.

The fighters used a rocket propelled grenade to attack a police station and claimed to have taken parts of **********h Zuweid, a town just four hours' drive - or 250 miles - from Sharm El-**********h.

And to top that off...in 2005, 88 tourists were killed in the same town by Islamic extremists , including uk citizens..and it took how long to speculate this most recent plane incident might be a terror attack???

The US was backing those groups long before ISIS became a force in the area, so you are full of shit. Of course Assad is trying to kill anyone who is trying to kill him that is what you call COMMON SENSE.

Indeed. The only goal of the US is the overthrow of Assad. Same as Saddam and Ghadaffi under noble neo-liberal endeavour of humanitarian intervention, despite UN conventions against unprovoked aggression on sovereign states. They liberated Iraq while causing 1 million Iraqis to die as a result. They liberated Libya by bombing them into what is now utter chaos and into a failed state. They are doing the same to Syria, by way of letting Salafist Taqfiri Jihadists doing the dirty work for them, some of the same organizations (Al-Qaida) that took down the WTC.

Because the US supported Free Syrian Army is almost non existent anymore, they are rebranding Al-Qaida terrorists as their now more moderate [heart eating] Jabhat Al-Nusra Jihadists.
