I am in my mid 40's now and last few years have been falling to sleep by 12-2 am and wake up after about 6 to 8 hours of sleep.
How ever in my 20's I had much problems falling asleep, after a while I stop trying to fight it. Some people can get by on little sleep. There was times in my past-for years straight that I could go with 3-5 hours of sleep 3 or 4 days of the week and the other part of the week about 6 hours of sleep I got. I felt great the next day so long as I did not drink at all--I did used to get "buzzed" off weed but it wasn't until I was in my mid 30's before that made me feel not so great later on.
So my advice is try not to drink, smoke, pop pills, etc. for a few weeks if you can and see how you feel. You might just find out you really don't need too much sleep.
I really missed not being able to get by on 3-5 hours of sleep. Hope later on I can go back to not needing as much sleep.
BTW--I was able to drink and feel great till about 25 years old...then that was getting to me. Everybody is diff., so long as you feel fine the next day, whats the problem ?
