Well, I checked into a supposed 4 star hotel (as always) a few days ago, only to find that the rooms felt like decorated military barracks, complete with doors that let every sound through, housekeeping staff that yelled back and forth up and down the halls ALL DAY LONG, bad food, no good coffee, a delay for everyone coming in and out of the hotel parking lot, a blaring stereo outside on the sidewalk, and no stores/restaurants/STARBUX within 2 square miles. I felt stressed, didn't sleep well, constantly hungry and going through STARBUX withdrawls.
In contrast, today I checked into another 4 star hotel downtown, and man, these people have it TOGETHER! BEAUTIFUL and relaxing decor, quiet, and very classy. The staff can fix anything! ...Well, it did take me a full 1.5 hours to convince the IT guy that the internet did not work in my room, and that it wasn't because I am blond. He was kind enough to indulge me, and together we discovered that yes, for the first time, there was an internet connection problem in that one room. Upon confirmation, however, I was moved by bellman, everything taken care of for me, and treated like royalty. And to think I balked at the price of staying here...
Like I always say, if you like me to treat you like a King, I must feel like a Queen. I must feel proud when I open the door to usher you in. It is difficult to feel proud, and classy at Motel 6. Hey, I haven't seen a motel 6 here.
So yes, I think that a crappy environment can lead to a really crappy mood!
