If/when this thing spreads around the world, including Canada..... Schools and workplaces will be closed, hospitals will be overwhelmed, bars, restaurants, escorts will have their business dwindle... could get crazy. Would you want to take the TTC if this thing really hits T.O ? Stock market is crashing , just as the native protesters attempt to further destroy the Canadian economy.

Not scared of the virus at all (it only has a 2% death rate).
I'm more worried about the panic and the food hoarding that comes with it.

Also the economy will take a huge hit if this thing spreads, it could send the entire planet into a depression
(although that will make for a great time to buy stocks, assuming your broker hasnt dropped dead)

It's alright to be scared. The potential is there for this thing to become much more serious than it currently is. But being scared doesn't mean you should start making stupid decisions. Would I postpone travel to China? Yes. Would I buy a year's worth of canned goods and bottled water, and bunker down in an underground shelter? No.

No, because most of the deaths are of people over 60, many with health problems, like cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Scared: not yet...concern: definitely. It only takes one stupid infected person to make a stupid decision that could lead to a pandemic.

Smokers and people with asthma too. The worst part about this virus is the pneumonia that comes with it

I'm not worried. A number of people say this could turn out to be another Spanish Flu, which killed millions in 1918. However, with our modern medicine, significantly better hygiene and diets, this is probably unlikely.

All that being said, I'm more than a little concerned about the cuts Doug (Ford) and the Slugs made to the public health units. If a pandemic does occur, the lack of professionals to focus on the issue could make things a heck of a lot worse.

Only 2%? That’s freaking astronomical. It’s probably higher than that too.

It’s super contagious. If 40-70% of the population gets it, that’s roughly 15 to 26 million Canadians. That’s 300,000 to 500,000 deaths at 2%.

The number of patients requiring ICU treatment is reportedly around 20% of cases. That’s 3 to 5 MILLION Canadians that may require intensive care. No country can handle that kind of volume. Many of those cases will just die at home, as is happening in China right now.

You’re comfortable with millions of Canadians dying, and the health care system being overwhelmed?

Look at China. This will get very, very bad, and our government of liberal snowflakes won’t take any necessary measures to prevent or minimize the damage coming.

On the bright side though, I imagine SP rates will come way down. Maybe a loaf of bread and a few bars of soap will do.
