You need to watch the shows. Cooper is more of a moderator for his panels, does human interest stories, and is clear when expressing editorial bias.

But some of the other ones are just terrible. A list of questions. If guests are a Democrat no pushback. If its about Trump a rant. A GOP just a litany of questions with no follow through on answers. Simplistic format.

Sorry bver but the firings are not over.
I have watched CNN shows during their prime time. To me Anderson Cooper is no different from Don Lemon when they express their personal opinions. Jim Acosta has posed some pressing questions to the Whitehouse spokespersons in the past to reveal how they have dodged the questions, with "fake news" rants thrown back at him, when they are caught out!!
But you should listen to Fox News. There you can see how very biased that network is with very insulting remarks to the President, Democrats and all the MSM. Don Lemon and Jim Acosta's bias pales into comparison!! The termination of Reliable Sources may have played into the hands of Fox News, who were always critical of Brian Stelter. In fact his ratings were very high as compared to other CNN Ratings. The backlash may get a bit more severe when Licht realizes what a mistake it was for him and the network!!

By Killing Off ‘Reliable Sources’ And Firing Host Brian Stelter, CNN Hands A Big Win To Its Worst Critics

He averaged 200,000 viewers. Are you saying the other shows are worse?

And you are asking why they are being cancelled and fired?

Pretty sure the backlash won't matter at those numbers.

Your figures are out of sync!! It is more like 769,000 viewers on a Sunday. That is in the USA alone. Globally CNN is the most watched TV news network and probably commands millions in viewers!!
You have to bear in mind that weekends including Sundays have the lowest viewers for any TV Ratings.
In spite of all that Reliable Sources was the most watched CNN Sunday show. Okay Fox was the only news network with higher ratings on a Sunday. But you have to bear in mind that Fox is the only major network for right wingers. CNN has competitions with MSNBC and other more Moderate Channels!!

The real question is what does this professed move towards hard news and no opinion actually mean?
The worry from many is it is just an excuse to more explicitly go after Fox viewers and the like, and will just mean that opinions always have to have a conservative movement side prominently featured.

What would be interesting is really going for news. Drop the talk show/anchor gabfests even though they are so much cheaper and easier and go after real news reporting as your style.
Will that sell? Probably not, but maybe it would work as a way to distinguish yourself from the other cable networks.
Really aim for gravitas and credibility.

The biggest problem with this is that if you report honestly, the right wing is going to attack you for being their enemy, because their whole pitch is so completely based in lies right now.

So it would be very interesting, but I can't see them doing it because it would hurt their ratings.

One CNN international has different shows. Based in different countries. Look it up. So he wasn't on other than the USA.

Two last show, so a bunch tuned in.

Three he was axed because of who he was. With more to follow.

If the CEO of Discovery is serious it may mean he is going old school in that the news division is not supposed to make money, but report the news unbiased. He may well treat CNN the same as the Networks and local stations did in microcosm, but within a Macro media conglomerate.

That also means jettisoning the big salaries.

I'm curious whether the deal to be unofficial spokespeople for the Pentagon and CIA holds up.

Wake up Butler, there is a CNN+ and a CNN Live programs in most countries.
You can watch both if you want. I happen to watch CNN on a Sunday in the UK and it did have The Reliable Sources there!!
From time to time programs are axed in all TV Channels. Reliable Sources was a mistake as I indicated and you cannot accept that fact.
We will see whether Don Lemon and Jim Acosta are next as per some of the sources. It ain't happening for now!!

Say bye bye to your favorites bver. And hopefully to the bias. Steltzer was a joke. Arguably the worst one on there.

You probably watched a USA feed. And CNN+ is toast.

Nothing I've seen of the Discovery buyout makes me think he would go with the old 'News is run as a public service at a loss' idea, but it would be a bold move and great to see.

That also means jettisoning the big salaries.

Probably.
It's very likely that is his default mindset. Those are "serious" people and so will be on his "serious" network.

You are hilarious butler!!

Maybe, you take Tucker Carlson and Hannity as Gospel Truths, if Steltzer was a "joke and the worst one". LOL!!
Whatever, I watched was in the coziness of my UK hotel room. They had the normal CNN feed that you get in the USA, but lo and behold there was no Fox News. Surprise, surprise!!
CNN+ did shut a month later, as it did not live up to the expectations. It was supposed to be an additional subscription channel. Was a dumb idea to start something as ridiculous as that for plain news. CNN International on the other hand is available in several nations and is very popular abroad. It is available even at various International Airports around the globe.
So CNN is not going away anytime soon. Sorry, to disappoint you butler.

OIC, so it explains Fox's high viewer ratings as each of the viewers is watching it on multiple TV sets.
Thank for clarifying!! :p

My thinking is if the owners are prepared to go with a much more straight news format they have to know, at least for a few years, its going to operate at a loss. They aren't stupid businessmen. Whether they can hold out if shareholders get antzy(and the Warner Bros project scrapping is going to be a much bigger deal than this I think).

But they basically wrote off a $300 million loss on CNN+. Which was in essence a vanity project for news faces.(Jake Tapper Book Club? Really?) So I see it leaning towards substantial change at this point.

Not a Fox watchee. Sorry dude. When do I comment on them ever? Can't comment if ya don't watch.

And in fact CNN+ couldn't put up news. They planned to stream non daily news shows from their talking heads. 300 million later......10,000 subscribers.

Thats why so many will be gone. They are forced on the public. And completely replacable.

Ohhh.... so you only watch CNN and not Fox? That is why you are not aware of the true bias that Fox broadcasts through their anchors!!

The mistake of CNN+ was to make it a Premium Channel with an additional contribution to it. Not many Americans want to subscribe to paying a Premium towards a New Media. If it was towards Exclusive Films and TV Series, then that would have been a different matter altogether.

Nothing was "forced on the public"!!

There is no reason to think they aren't stupid businessmen, though, so I'm not convinced they have to know any of what you just said.

The way they are handling WB and HBO Max and so on is part of why I am not convinced they aren't stupid businessmen.

If the only thing they manage to figure out is that most of the "cable news stars" are vastly overpaid and eminently replaceable then that's a good thing on its own merits.

They are looking at Disney right now and seeing their ecosystem of various properties. Then they see their own and realized how they need a Feige type to handle things. Thats what WB and HBO Max are going to get.

AT&T chose to get out. But I think its because they prefer to be a tech company and not a media one.

Anyway I think its a five year plan in the making.
