Scientists weren't allowed to advocate, they were told to do science only.
Over the last few years that's changed.

But Hansen testified in the 80's that this was going to happen.
Hansen was wrong. Didn't he claim that Lower Manhattan would be under water by 2000?

My assessment is the likelihood of the world facing the
threat of extinction in the impending climate catastrophe
induced by green house gas emission is way way smaller
than the likelihood of gradual die-off of humanity on the
descending side of the Hubbert curve as global oil production
begins falling rapidly (around 2030) to essentially zero by the
end of this century.
I don't agree but fair enough. Neither of us will be around to see if you are right but in the meantime climate events are becoming much more frequent an destructive, agriculture is becoming adversely affected and a myriad of other climate related consequences. Don't you think it would be better to do something than nothing?

Doing that 'something' would be better if it succeeds in emission reduction
climate change or no climate change. In reality the parts of the world purportedly
most committed to zero emission (Norway, Canada, Australia, the US and the UK)
are hell bent in squeezing their oil fields to the last drop. The most astounding
accomplishment of the climate movement is that it enables political leaders to expedite depletion of existing oil fields and development of new oil reserves
under the cover of climate change. That 'something' that needs to be done
will have to await world oil production passing its peak.

A new study by a team of climate scientists and published by the European Geosciences Union reveals that the Antarctic ice shelf area has grown by 5305 km2 from 2009-2019, gaining 661 Gt of ice mass over the past decade.

The new observations confirm the findings of eminent meteorologist Professor J. Ray Bates whose research has shown that trends in polar sea-ice levels give little cause for alarm. [emphasis, links added]

In a paper published just over a year ago by the Global Warming Policy Foundation, Professor Bates contrasted climate model simulations – which predict significantly decreasing sea ice levels in both hemispheres – with empirical data and observed trends in Arctic and Antarctic sea ice.

Professor Bates said:

“In 2007, Al Gore told us that Arctic sea ice levels were ‘falling off a cliff’. It’s clear now that he was completely wrong. In fact, the trends in sea ice are an antidote to climate alarm.

Professor Bates also says that little reliance should be placed on model simulations of future sea-ice decline:

Climate models failed to predict the growth in Antarctic sea ice, and they missed the recent, marked slowdown of sea-ice decline in the Arctic. It would be unwarranted to think they are going to get things right over the next 30 years.

South Africa blackouts caused by West paying us to cut coal, says electricity minister

Rich nations “understand” South Africa’s immediate need to keep coal power plants running for longer to tackle electric power cuts despite an $8.5 billion clean energy transition deal, a German government spokesperson told Climate Home.

But they warned the South African government should not row back from a clear commitment to cutting long-term emissions.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa told Parliament last week the timetable to shift away from coal “must be relooked at” while the country struggles with crippling daily blackouts.

The US, UK, EU, Germany and France are contributing funds for a landmark plan, known as a Just Energy Transition Partnership (JetP) to clean up South Africa’s coal-reliant electricity system.

It won't be long before the US, UK, EU, Germany and France return to and/or
stepping up burning coal for power generation to bring down energy cost, I
guarantee you.

That study is not by a team, its by one meteorologist, J Ray Bates who has failed to get a single paper past peer review. Because he pushes shoddy science
He works for a dark money funded climate change denial group.

This year everything is changing for antarctic ice melt.

Prof Eliot Jacobson has no climate science background

He is Retired professor of mathematics and computer science, author of 4 books: 3 on casino games & 1 poetry book. Now I volunteer, walk a lot & feed local critters.

and you have no business complaining about funding when your climate alarmist sources are all funded by rich elite types and families like the Rockefellers and the Soros

more "dark money" is funding climate alarmism

Climate Propaganda in British schools funded by elite billionaire foundations

Just Stop Oil bankrolled by group part-funded by oil heiress
Aileen Getty is a founding member of Climate Emergency Fund, which has handed out more than $4m to activists including Extinction Rebellion

Jacobson posts charts from legit sources, even when I post the original sources you claim they are false.
How crazy do you have to be to try to claim that there is more money changing hands because of climate research over the oil industry?

more whining about Big Oil while refusing to stop using them and their products, refuses to buy an electric vehicle and refuse to sign up for carbon credits

How do you know whether I've stopped using their products are not?
You're just making shit up to greenwash.

Each car tire needs how much oil?
.
And where do tires end up???

Ashpalt????
.

Guess we should stop urban sprawl and go back to horses on dirt paths. :)

any alternatives for home heating????

Insulation for electrical wiring?

Not to mentions oh so much more….

Yeah ok. We are all about A) saving the planet….and B) climbing on our moral horses
