Interesting hobby. Unless you're claiming the event didn't happen, I don't think it matters much which of the people he drove into died as it's pretty evident that it wasn't an accidental collision.
If by interesting hobby, you mean discussing world events with strangers who hold intransigent views on an internet poon board, I take your point. But here I am, and so are you, so it must be both our hobbies.
As to what we know, all we have some news reporting and we have some content posted by ordinary people on the internet. Some of that information is easy to find, but I don't imagine that I've found everything that might be germane. That collective information establishes some aspects of what happened very clearly, other aspects less so. I'm interested in what happened -
EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. Unlike some, I'm not interested in some internet posters "takes" on the event. I'm interested in facts. If you and others are not, that doesn't trouble me in the least. To me, this is a noteworthy event. A fatality in these circumstances (in the context of a clash between protesters, and involving a vehicle) happens very seldom in the US. Exactly what happened
could be very important to US political discourse about a number of issues, including race relations, public demonstration rights, policing, preservation/destruction of historical monuments, domestic terrorism policy, etc.
I don't offer a narrative for what happened at this point. It would be premature to do so before I think I understand enough facts. I doubt you have better information at this point than I do, particularly since you don't find the subject to be all that interesting.
There are some facts that pique my interest to want to know more. I've seen video showing some people being knocked over by the side of the car as it collided with the cars blocking the intersection. I haven't seen a clear video showing anyone being struck BETWEEN the cars. I've seen video of protesters attacking the car. It's not clear to me whether they attacked both before and after the collision. I have seen video of protesters who jumped on the car and/or blocked it from behind struck or thrown from the car as it reversed from the collision. I haven't seen clear reporting on Heyer's precise injuries leading to her death or as to how exactly she was impacted by the collision. I haven't seen a video (despite the existence of at least 5 different videos of the collision, a fact that, to me, is curious in itself) where Heyer's position in relation to the collision is identified.
No person should be troubled by an inquiry to the facts of what happened here, unless they've already formed their own narrative and are concerned that further information could challenge their premature take on events.
So, Basket, having no interest in this event is fair enough, but having no interest AND thinking that you can draw indisputable conclusions about the event is just sloppy thinking.
