I haven't yet listened to the program, but I will tonight while doing laundry. I will comment on a few things. I'm dating a SP and my previous GF was a long time SP (11 years in the industry). She was one of those "broken" girls. My current GF followed the same path (Yeah yeah, I'm saving the damsel in distress, blah blah). This entire argument about legalizing prostitution is a step in the right direction BUT...society and the media have it alll pegged wrong
For starters, legalizing prostitution should NOT be about "more tax money". It should be about the rights of women to protect themselves and be accepted in society as human beings with legitimate careers. The SP's need it for their own personal safety and the protections ALL workers get. Secondly, the argument it should be controlled by the government is bullshit. That's exactly what happened in The Netherlands & their sex trade (while safer) still has it's underbelly of crime and corruption. The government in the Netherlands was more interested in control and the tax money than it was in the rights of the workers. What you've got in Holland is a bunch of brothels & that is NOT the answer. The answer is having women make the decision who they want to see WITHOUT fear of retribution. I really don't give a rats ass if I piss off every MP in Eastern Canada, but too many of those places are managed by unscrupulous types who do not put the best interest of the SP in mind. It's "factory fucking" as my ex used to say. I don't care how sexually liberal you are, someone entering YOUR body is always going to be "different" than cutting hair, giving them a massage, etc.
The ONLY way to legalize this business is to give the women FULL control and have the police, government and society offer the same protections afforded to the rest of the working public. Call the receptionist at an office and tell her you want to pound her pussy on the hood of a car. You'll find yourself with a visit from the police if she chooses. An SP should too have the right too. She needs that protection because what most pooners don't understand is that there are a LOT of fucked up assholes that have no respect for SP's. I know this for a fact because I hear about it every single day of the week.
The general population is clueless about this trade, as I was too until I managed to end up dating a former SP. The stereotypes of the typical "ho" abound and the reasons are aplenty. This industry remains in the "grey area" of life so people educate themselves about it by what they read or see in Hollywood. But those stereotypes are enforced by the pooners AND...by the women themselves. I read several SP forums and I shake my head when I see SP's talking about how they "love all their clients", blah blah blah. Not saying they don't enjoy sex because some of them do. But cut the shill...it's as tiresome as the fake reviews or never ending conversations on TERB about how thick someone's cock is and how he makes every SP squeal in delight with multiple orgasms. If you can't see the reality, you can't understand WHAT the reality is, so how can you change things?
The right to buy sex should be a right of all Canadians. It's a woman's choice to sell her body. We allow companies to sell products that fuck up your body (cigarettes, fast food) yet we don't allow a person to sell their own body for sexual pleasure. And if they do, we turn a blind eye and ignore it. And for those that have fallen down..the SW's? Well they're not even human. Pickton ground up 49 women into hamburger and fed them to pigs. That got LESS media play than Jane Creba getting shot in downtown Toronto. One person has "value" the other 49 did not.
Just my 2 cents.
