Exactly, we have little to gain, especially with ongoing trade negotiations, by taking a stand opposed to the US, when our agreement or disagreement on this doesn't even matter.

I can agree, to a point.
Globalism and Globalists are similar, but different.
The Globalists are basically the ones aligned with the WEF agenda. Think Orwell's 1984, about how the WEF sees us. Digital IDs, Currency, and policy that has an adverse effect on our country.
Globalism is more of interconnectedness, while retaining autonomy. Think FDRs Arsenal of Democracy, during WW2, about how Trump sees us, with a strong middle class and a sovereign country, with full control over yourself.
In a nutshell though, Carlin had it right, when he said it's a big club and we're not part of it. But it all boils down to what sort of rights and prosperity do you want?

In western countries, most left leaning parties are aligned with the WEF. An unelected body making policy that doesn't help us. The WEF drains your country, taking manufacturing offshore (3rd world or China) Keeping money making resources in the ground, or, offshore for processing. Globalists get rich, with little to no middle class.
While right leaning parties want a strong middle class, while retaining sovereignty. No body like the WEF, just the government that you chose. Utilization of your resources, processing them in country. An integration globally, while retaining your countries sovereignty, manufacturing within your borders, no reliance on other countries (China) for critical goods/needs. A strong middle class, with millionaire owners would benefit all.
One can see over the last 10+ years, with a left leaning government, along with the decline in manufacturing, (over decades) and reliance on China has had an impact on us and our country.
The decline in our manufacturing sector, going "offshore" has been a manufactured decline. Nothing happened overnight.
While we aren't a part of the big club, it does have sides. I know the one that I prefer.

That's precisely the point. It is not just my "point". He HAS the intelligence not just from CSIS, from 5 Eyes, but also from the 16 or so spook agencies that report through the DNI. He knows it's a lie. He maybe repeating the same mantra from day one but the lie has not changed.
First, I'm doubtful that any announcement showing concurrence with Trump would advance Carney's agenda on CUSMA. It's been tried before. And Carney was under no compunction to make ANY announcement, especially not one that turns him out as a liar or a fool. See Avi Lewis's post above. And Trump was also repeating the same lines over and over until now...just look at the horrified faces of Lutnick and Rubio standing behind him.
