Just wondering, of all the countries in the world that do NOT have the capability to produce their own vaccine, where does Canada stand in terms of getting their citizens vaccinated per capita?
I am also wondering how many other countries DID have the capability to produce their own vaccine but they had a leader "Mulroney moronic" enough to sell away that safeguard and now have to rely on foreign manufacturers. How many other leaders were that STUPID? And all for the sake of trying to make it appear like the gov't was doing a good job of managing the budget. He always made sure that his hair well managed as well. It was always about appearances for him.

Canada population approx 38 million
so canada has done approx 15 mill single dose the us approx 150 MILLION with 1/3 having two shots already
I think it's also more likely for Canada to reach herd immunity than the USA.
The bottom line is Canada's covid19 response has been better than the USA, based on number of deaths. The USA has had over 1/2 a million (500,000) more dead people from covid. That's 500,000 people they failed to protect.

Yes, you were clarifying that while the US has 23.5x the number of deaths, you have to take in mind it has 10x the population so really is only doing 2.35 times worse.
And Chretien and Martin did absolutely nothing for 12 years. Chretien was in power during the SARS crisis when Toronto was arguably the 2nd most impacted community in the world yet still did nothing. They should have provided us with some protection or at least begun the process. There were failures on all sides. Some of us are able to acknowledge this fact...some of us can’t
But the fact is, they have 20X more cases with 10X the population (actually 9X). So by reminding us of the population disparity, you are reinforcing that they are getting infected at twice the rate that Canadians are on a per capita basis.
You can say all you want, that you did not intend to say that, but it is impossible to deny that that is the only conclusion to be drawn from what you said. (Actually, it may be closer to 2.5X more than Canada's rate.)

If it is really closer to 9x then the US death rate per capita is closer to 2.6 times the Canadian one.
India has probably vaccinated more people than Canada. Are they another shining example of a country that Canada should try to emulate?
And as the title of this thread says, Canada is closing the gap with the US.
I’m saying other countries have vaccinated 100 million + citizens many with both shots and Canada has only done a few million months behind with a wait of 4 months for second shot so we’re not doing that great
In raw numbers. But you were the one that brought up the point that the US has 10X the population. So, comparing apples to apples, Canadians have been protected 2.6X better (Tip of the hat to Val.) than Americans. And we can't even manufacture our own.

Probably part of the reason why we get infected 2.6X less frequently than Americans. It's hard to get around that number that keeps popping up.

And, what, 25 times more deaths? The USA has a much higher death rate per capita than Canada. Maybe partly due to a higher percentage of obese & overweight people.
With over 500,000 more deaths than Canada, the USA did a lousy job of protecting their population. In fact they are the world's leader in deaths, i.e. the world's worst.
Is the percentage of vaccinated people much different? And do not first shots provide a high degree of protection comparable to having had both shots? If so, then protection wise from vaccines there may not be much difference. Although if in the USA they are using safety measures (e.g. masks) much less than in Canada, those actions open Americans to greater risk (=less safe) than Canadians. And if Canada soon gets a higher percentage vaccinated than the USA, then the USA will be losing there too.
