''you lose gold, you win bronze''. Tomorrow, and in the days to come, the U.S. players will appreciate the medal more than they did today. The Canadian players would have reacted much the same way, had the game gone the other way.

Anyone who comes that close to gold and loses has a right to be devastated, but I too was extremely disappointed at both American hockey teams after the games.

Probably more so for the men, because most of them have extremely lucrative careers to return to tomorrow.

Many medals were decided by a few hundreds of a second and most of the athletes had the strength of character to suck it up and be gracious in their loss. and for many of them, that loss represented a huge miss at a once in a lifetime shot at being the best.
As I watched the US men's hockey team accept their silver medals, I thought a few of them were not going to actually take the medal. What a spoiled bunch of elitists. Far too many athletes make huge sacrifice just to be at the games.

I am usually a proud supporter of our American neighbours but their attitude after the hockey games was a poor display.

Did anyone see the 50 km Cross Country race.

The top Canadian placed 5'th and he finished 1.5 seconds behind first.

He skied for 2 hours and 15 minutes and missed by 1.5 seconds. They were interviewing him after the race and he was in tears. You can't blame the guy.

Sorry JTK, but good sportsmanship is not something you need to reflect on. The Americans played one of the best hockey games I have ever witnessed and should be proud. These games saw athletes perform amidst some real and ultimate tragedy in the loss of a team mate and a parent. Taking home a mere silver medal is a pretty lame in comparison.
To me a big part of the spectacle of this event has to be a world class showing of sportsmanship and character.
