You do not have a clue
We sell Western Canadian Crude at a discount because we have only one customer because of the stupid Liberal NO PIPELINES policy
The US has multiple suppliers
We also buy oil @ market prices for Eastern Canada
This is a brutally bad situation

Wake up!
The liberals have ensured wealth / investment gets driven out of our country wrt energy

Carney is focused on Carbon Tariffs but the EU just screwed him.
HE was insistent Carbon Tariffs would be the status quo for all trade, and he got that wrong
The US will destroy the Canadian economy if Carney applies Carbon Tariffs- Just like the digital tax

You are not paying attention
There are incentives to on shore
Corporate Taxation, Tariffs and there will be US mandates for domestic production of strategic products

LOTS of Incentives

Wrong
As I said Textile manufacturing is not going to rush to the USA
High value added manufacturing will

And he is intent of stealing share of North American auto production
this will happen over his 4 year term

Wrong again
Trump will drive mandates for domestic production of strategic products- No question
He does not give a shit what you call it
Considering AI and robotics are the new manufacturing default, and all of that is made in China. How do you think all this high value manufacturing is going to happen? The USA makes nothing now. That is the point. It's not just building a building. They don't make the transformers anymore, don't make the parts for a line. Don't make the electronics. Don't make the parts for the robots. Don't have the grid to handle it. They have brown outs now. They literally have to make the manufacturing base, to make the manufacturing parts to make the manufacturing line, to make the product. You think that happens in 3 years?

And the use of AI and robotics won't bring back jobs. They are going to kill more of them. This is1960 anymore. Detroit isn't going to become a car mecca again.

The investment needed just to get started is trillions. Will take 2 decades of policy. Minimum. Or the manufacturing people wait a bit, take a small hit on the stock line. And things go back.

What do you think Wall St will do?

yes it will

THE US will steal some of Canada share of North American Auto production

nope
new production will go to the USA
Canadian production will be dialed back / moth balled

What do you think Wall St will do?
Demand the auto makers take advantage of lower tax rates/ avoid tariff costs / buy American as there is value to be created for shareholders by doing so

meanwhile as you warp yourself in patriotic self delusion:

Dairy supply management could sour Canada-US trade talks

Trump, however, threatened in a Truth Social post on Friday to derail talks and impose new tariffs due to the digital service tax, which had been scheduled to take effect on Monday.

In the same post, Trump also attacked tariffs on dairy products.

Carney and Trump both confirmed negotiations had restarted with the removal of the tax.

"Trump is basically one Truth Social post away from creating political chaos in Canada," said Sylvain Charlebois, a food industry analyst and professor at Dalhousie University.

While some said dropping the digital services tax made Canada look weak, it has not been politically explosive and the tax was a little-known measure for many Canadians.

On the other hand, parliament amended legislation shortly before starting summer break to prevent supply management from being put on the table during trade talks, with unanimous support from all political parties in the House of Commons.

Still, trade experts say the recent legislation would not stop Canada's negotiators from discussing it.

"At the end of the day, a Canadian government is going to do what it needs to do with supply management to get a deal," said Tyler McCann, the managing director of the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute, who thinks many farmers have a false belief that the legislation is binding.[/QUOTE]

You are basing all your assumptions on believing Trump. That's why I said it. Did you know Trump didn't EVEN KNOW cuts to Medicaid are in the BB Bill?

He is just spouting slogans without doing the actual work.

And I'm spitting facts. Nixon went to China in the early 70's and they spent 50 years building out their manufacturing base and ability to add and adapt while the USA spent that same time off shoring and allowing the infrastructure, from rail spurs, to buildings, roads, electrical grid, and more importantly institutional knowledge and training to rot and lapse.

And you expect the USA, by your own words, to recover that in three years?

How can you be serious?

I said there will be reshoring of manufacturing to the US and I also said there is no way in hell Canada will suddenly diversify its trade

where did I say he was going to fix the nation?

You do not pay attention

I said he will drive reshoring of manufacturing
I also said Canada will not diversify its dependency on exports to the USA and reducing that dependency from 78% to 65% will be a huge challenge

pay attention and stop being an idiot

You have allowed your TDS to cloud your judgement

you do not like him , which is understandable

the very worse thing one can do is under estimate an opponent because of personal bias

He said crews can build simple manufacturing plants and warehouses in less than one year. Larger. more complex facilities will take years to build. “We can typically build a warehouse in six months.Apr 3, 2025

It is guys like you who antagonize china, the 2nd biggest market in the world, that makes Canada more dependant on US trade. A buyer seller relationship is a very basic relationship and guys like you ruin even that.

You sank the life boats and now you are gloating that we have no choice but to remain on the ship.

You think you can build modern cars in warehouses?

Are there no US auto planets that can be expanded ?

You have the mind of a child with a ideological overlay that prevents you from thinking objectively

The only warehouses Trump know how to build in 6 months are gulag, to warehouse people.
Trumps not going to build anything
The automakers will though to avoid the tariffs
