it is a revenue tax, not an income tax
At worst it's a nice bargaining chip, just like the tariffs.
In the end though it won't matter. No deal Trump makes is worth wiping our arses with. Best to string things along until trustworthy leadership returns.

The digital services tax was a good attack on the oligarchy.

I stated this won't be settled soon. It's likely to easily go into the fall, and beyond to 2026 when USMCA is up for renegotiation. In the mean time some hurt will happen.
But in the end Trump is the one causing the hurt. All we can do is mitigate it. No point cutting bad deals that will hurt our economy to remove tariffs that are hurting our economy. It's all a wash. Better to grind him down. He needs deals.
