Orange is the new Black? How would the leftists on this board react to pictures of Trump in blackface?
You're right. That to me is a key aspect in virtue signaling. The Left decides who is worthy of exoneration for these social infractions.

Oh my, do I have to do all the work around here? When was the last time you called out the right wingers like Phil for his constant praise of Trump, be it the Economy or the Stock Prices??
You are selectively trying to find fault with those to the left of you, but definitely displaying a blind spot to others that have the same train of thought as regards your political views.Oh my, do I have to do all the work around here?
Of course, the U.S. stock market is going to do well if Trump lowers corporate taxes and juices up a late cycle economy with large deficits. All while the Fed is maintaining low rates. It's ridiculous to give even Trump that much credit. Some aspects of the economy are just impacted by simple math.
I happen to think lowering corporate tax rates was necessary to stay competitive globally. That does not mean I think personal income tax rates needed to be lowered. I also support certain structural efforts by the Trump Administration. Namely addressing the unfair trade practices of China.
Your blind spot Beav is you believe everything Trump does is wrong, has to be wrong. I don't agree with every Trump policy nor did I disagree with every Obama policy. I'm old enough to not get caught up in the political moment. That's why I described your arguments as emotive in an earlier post. You are selectively trying to find fault with those to the left of you, but definitely displaying a blind spot to others that have the same train of thought as regards your political views.
By the way tariffs were always considered to "Socialist / Communist" type of legislations. We have seen that with countries that tried to protect their industries like China, India, Russia, Cuba and the former Soviet Union. Of course you will find an excuse to support these acts by Trump.
Ohhh... so I have a blind spot if I am critical of Trump, while it is okay for you to have a continuous dig at Trudeau. I see your logic!! You seem to agree with almost all the Trump policies and have taken a very dogmatic approach in your discussions.Your blind spot Beav is you believe everything Trump does is wrong, has to be wrong. What is the point of discussing trade policy? You're going to mimic a liberal media outlet that likely knows damn well that we will be in trade tussles with China long after Trump leaves office. History will give us clear reflection on our relationship with China without all the political noise of today.
Regarding your point on tariffs being Socialist/Communist legislation, tariffs have been around for centuries. Long before Marx and Engels came along. They have been enacted by many countries down through history for various reasons. The United States early in its history enacted high tariffs to protect nascent colonial industry from larger European competitors and as importantly to fund the Federal government.
The Trump tariffs would more aptly described as a national industrial policy. Something free market conservatives and libertarians loathe. In any event, a unilateral trade tussle targeting a bad trade actor like China hardly qualifies as a broad Socialist policy. What much of the press is failing to tell us is how much the details of all these trade agreements have always been negotiated, compromised and arbitrated.
Once again, I don't take digs at Trudeau. All I have pointed out is that Trudeau (and Trump, and Obama) can't take a whole lot of credit for the cyclical aspects of a free market economy.Ohhh... so I have a blind spot if I am critical of Trump, while it is okay for you to have a continuous dig at Trudeau. You have your own political views that you are welcome to have. But when your numerous posts are all about attacking anyone on the left, but not meeting the same standards when the right are involved, is here for all to see. Once again you have no problems when there are posts praising Trump for the USA economy doing well, in spite of what Obama handed to Trump. But when using the same rhetoric with Trudeau, and duh, you are challenging the whole notion that Trudeau should take any credit for it's performance. The day you maintain the same balance between Trump and Trudeau is when there will be some credibility in your point of view!!Once again, I don't take digs at Trudeau. All I have pointed out is that Trudeau (and Trump, and Obama) can't take a whole lot of credit for the cyclical aspects of a free market economy.
It would appear you need to have sharply drawn black and white lines when engaging on political forums. It also seems like you get irritated when I won't give Trudeau his due for overseeing a strong Canadian economy.
