I posted the info available. It is up to the readers to decide. And what do you mean quoting inaccurate facts? The link I quoted saying Now as effective date for C36 is from the injustice minister himself. Are you saying that it is fake? Even though I said I don't know which one is true (I posted two links one saying effective date for C36 is now and the other said December 6). It is up to readers to decide but they need to have all info available to them Please don't shoot the messenger.

This is a free board (unlike the other) members can post their opinion. Considering the risks involved in this (now clearly becoming illegal to see escorts and likely MPs and dancers too if any of the defined sexual activities are involved and the past/present/future risk of seeing a pimped/forced/trafficked one) in my view it is possible to find alternative hobbies. I am just suggesting alternative legal activities like dance bars, strip bars (where no defined sexual activities take place), travelling...... People can decide for themselves if they wish to take the risks involved or not.
im pretty sure with this new bill. guys are going to start getting arrested in strip clubs too.

Strip clubs may have to enforce regulations such as only topless lap dances, and absolutely no touching.

Being in a bawdy house is NO LONGER ILLEGAL. So me being in a strip bar does NOT break any laws even if others are involved in sexual activities in those bars and classy strip bars will not allow it. I only can be arrested if I am myself involved in any defined sexual activity in a strip bar. And to my knowledge watching nude dancers, socializing with them, dinner dating them , dancing with them or having a dance when no lap/contact dancing will be involved (as of December 6 or now, still not clear which date) is not a defined as sexual activity to my knowlege. No?

As an example I am planning to travel with a dancer I know for 4 years to Caribbean for Christmas for a few days. All travel expenses paid by me but no payments of any kind to her (she has accepted that). If anything happens (which I will not be asking or expecting as I have booked two separate rooms as per my promise to her) will be between two consenting adults and in overseas. Even C36 cannot nail me down on this. I don't think that this country under the conservative regime has gone down so low to ban dating ladies and paying for dinner or travel expenses. I am encouraging/suggesting similar legal alternatives. It is not my business to say how others live their lives and I am not doing that. I am just making suggestions as I think the alternatives may be more fun (for some not all).
No one will be getting arrested in strip clubs. Unless you are engaged in a sexual act. Come on guys, common sense.

Before you get ALL WORRIED UP ..... Enforcement of laws is the domain of local L.E. Agencies with some advice from local city Mayors. Most are NOT in agreement & have been bold enough to come out & SAY so as much as is Politically possible. SEE THIS on the City of Vancouver website. Others across Canada have verbally spoke their displeasure:

Our response to the passing of Bill C-36

November 7 2014

Vancouver City Hall

The City is concerned with the passing of Bill C-36, Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act, as research confirms that criminalization of sex work puts those involved in sex work at further risk of increased violence.

The passing of Bill C-36:
•Undermines the health and safety of sex workers
•Increases social exclusion and pushes sex workers to work in more isolated areas

What this decision means for the City going forward

Going forward, the collective focus needs to continue to be on the health and safety of sex workers and the communities that they live and work. The City remains committed to this, and in October 2014, Mayor and Council adopted Vancouver’s Healthy City Strategy, which identifies 13 goals, including:
•Safety and inclusion
•To promote health and well-being for all
•A target to make Vancouver the safest major city in Canada by reducing crimes, including sexual assault, year-over-year

The City will continue to work in partnership with community groups and the provincial government to minimize safety risks and harms for sex workers. This includes:
•Addressing all forms of exploitation and abuse
•Providing opportunities for education and awareness
•Enabling access to health and social service gaps
•Creating transitioning opportunities for those seeking to exit

City urged the federal government to refer the proposed legislation to the Supreme Court

In submissions to the Federal Government, the City urged that the proposed legislation be referred to the Supreme Court to ensure its compliance with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the spirit of the Bedford Decision: prioritizing the health, safety and dignity of those it’s declared to protect. The City also asked that there be consultation, which previously did not take place, with municipalities across the country on potential impacts.

In 2013 the City provided over $400,000 in grants to 11 community organizations to:
•Promote sex worker health and safety
•Address child and youth sexual exploitation
So what? A municipal government can't tell a police force to ignore provisions of the Criminal Code of Canada.

A question and a statement

First off, I am not schooled in the Law nor do I understand exactly how these things proceed. So now that this law has been pushed ahead by the Conservatives, will it be challenged and brought to the Supreme Court? Will the incoming Liberals be able to get rid of this law next year?

Also, fuck the Conservatives and whomever voted them in, they should be ashamed. I only hope that we all band together to get them out next year!!

Btw, can someone skilled in constitution and law explain how can a Federal law be overruled by a City or chosen not to be enforced!!!!!? I am confused. I thought Federal laws apply all over Canada. I am interested because I understand that strip bars (where I still go) falls under municipal jurisdictions
They can't. They are under municipal jurisdiction for things like licensing and zoning only. Criminal law is solely a federal responsibility and a city can't "make" things legal that are prohibited in the Criminal Code. Conversely a city can't "legislate morality" or attempt to make their own quasi-criminal laws.

Lol that is exactly what I said. Why you guys are quoting me like I said otherwise??. I did NOT. I contradicted the earlier post and you quoted my post denying what I had already denied with evidence in the post you quoted!!!!!!!!!
haha! great, so we are on the same page! lol

Well Capital, thanks for the condolences. Actually, though, I was speaking ironically....
Capital knew that. He was just continuing with his pedantic, condescending moralizing. The zeal of the reformed.

First off .... Chief of Police are NOT elected BUT hired by City Government officials AND take some direction from them. ALSO The local L.E. have set priorities based on local community concerns & priorities. As indicated by many Local Government officials & Police forces their focus & enforcement will not be changing.

Guys, there are soooo many links about this in the top sticky. Its written in that it's effective 30 days following its passing. This is all double posting.

I wish you guys would consult lawyers & authorities. Strip bars, classy or otherwise, are part of this.

There are 4 major cities that have denounced c36. Toronto police are focusing on trafficking. Again, tons of discussion about this in the 12 other c36 threads.

And, why are you encouraging others to quit? On a pooner board? Isn't that barking up the wrong tree? DO YOUR RESEARCH before quoting inaccurate facts.
A question. If a local business or community group etc., files a complaint with LE, wouldn't their officers be compelled to investigate? The police are generally not permitted to cherry-pick (pun intended) the cases which are assigned to them.
I know a bank manager who is clamouring to close down the massage parlour situated in the same plaza.

Easy, the same way all the previous laws were never enforced. Running a common bawdy house, being found in one as a client, and living of the avails was always illegal prior to Communist 36. Nothing will change. Human trafficing, underaged girls, and girls being forced and exploited, thats a different issue. My bet, they will go hard on those. And that they should.

I really hope that is the way LE will choose to enforce the new law.

What they say, has no effect on me. I'm a true pooner. :D What is there left to do, if they try to take that away from me. I'm prepared, thanks to my partners in crime. :thumb:

I live in the safest city in Canada -Barrie.
The cops are rabidly trying to find crimes to fight. Our police have done massage parlour raids in the past month and participated in 2 northern spotlight raids on escorts and massage ppl.
The sextrade in Barrie is gonna get busted, escorts agencies, massage parlours, maybe even strip clubs the way c36 is written.

Quite a length to go to to escape the shackles of C36.

Hi Capital, I am inspired by your post. I am delighted that you would like me to quit seeing my favourite ladies! Seeing as both of my parents have passed on, and I have no-one to watch over me, I am truly grateful for your concern for my well being. However, miserable sinner that I am, I think I'll carry on for a bit longer. Is that O.K?
Lol!
