Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming can't handle 2050 overclock without artifacts. (See 10:30) The reference cards do 2088Mhz see post 110. BTW my card and many other reference cards boost straight out of the box 1830-1860. But yet we have another 3rd party bullshit card, that looks flashy and mean, is power hungry but fails in performance. Yup, 3rd party is the way to go was the advice given to me by 95% of so called experts including all the bullshit sponsored reviewers, even at best buy and canada computers. Another fucking bullshit advice, and people regurgitating crap without thinking about it. Yup us losers just refuse to listen and keep buying the reference card still selling it out on majority of retailers and Nvidia GTX website. Good thing majority still refuse to listen to bad advice of skewed paid reviewers and so called experts. But maybe if we penny pinch we will save $50 and have a mean card.

My point is, get the reference design. It is stable, tested, improved and optimized to perform. Right now I see no need to overclock my card because my monitor cant handle more then 60 fps and can max out all games at 1440p. However, the reference card has been a great purchase and made my games and gameplay flawless. Once Nvidia released the new driver it fixed some issues we were having with the fan reving up and temperatures. Now the thing stays at 72 provided you don't OC. What a great card.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I read many of your posts. Just proves a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

If you don't intend to overclock, why are you using that as your only criteria when comparing Nvidia to board-partners?
Do you understand the concept of "silicon-lottery" and "binning"?
There are only a few areas that board-partners can modify their products under their licensing agreements. For example,
factory overclock of GPU and memory, connectors, cooling (better or quieter), power management, bundled software, utilities, warranty and PRICE. Most board-partners have several lines. The test individual GPUs and bin based on performance. The better parts go into their better cards. For example the board-partners put the least overclockable GPUs into their lower-line products and sell them for less than Nvidia, but still match Nvidia's reference performance. The better GPUs go into their various tiered OCed products. <-- this process takes a few months to develop and perfect. But in the end the the board-partners will offer less expensive boards than Nvidia with same performance/more features and factory OCed boards that will out-perform Nvidia at an attractive price with a warranty.
Remember, this is the exact same silicon as Nvidia uses, just sorted based on OC performance.
Further overclocking performed by private enthusiasts, which you seem totally focused on as a quality measure, is a roll of the dice (i.e. silicon-lottery). TODAY the variances are large for the reasons I describe above: One card may only overclock a few % more, but the next one on the shelf may go 20% more. In a few months, that will no longer be the case as binning gets perfected. My point - most current comparison tests are unreliable and therefore irrelevant. Wait 2-3 months, then compare (as I originally said at the beginning of this thread).
So ....... God bless your soul! I am trying to be positive today and will say congratulations on your purchase and your decision and leave it at that. Sounds like you are happy and you got a good deal so good for you.... we'll take again when the drivers are more mature and both the Nvidia and OEM cards have a few months of production stability and perfect their binning techniques.
