This guy is the Premier talking like this. 🤣
That's why he screwed over Toronto council right before an election, to make sure the burbs outvote the downtown.
Then he gave his pal Tory extra mayoral powers.
So of course he's now totally pissed that a left winger might actually get in and be able to do some non corrupt governing.

GTA & Thereabouts...
I hope people leave John Tory alone now and I absolutely wish that the witch-hunt to find his 30+yo lady/affair partner ceases. Leave her alone for fuck sakes...

A disaster is truly shaping up with the increased immigration while housing remains unavailable and insecure. This is being ignored.

This comment sums up perfectly why Toronto has deteriorated over the last 15 some odd years and will never become a world-class city.
To make things clear, I do care about the city. Lived here my whole life. While it's not perfect (name one city of 3 million that is) it's far better than a lot of places on earth. What I don't care about is what consenting adults do behind closed doors. In the the case of Tory, he paid the price, he's resigned now let's move on. You seem to sweat the little things. What are you, a member of the morality squad?

Oh, and if you don't like Toronto, you know you're free to live somewhere else.

Good in what way? If I were to say if the city is better or worse off in the last 8 years of his reign, I would say it's worse.

The city is several crises in a trench coat: housing, transit, public services, homelessness, mental health, drugs, violent crime, infrastructure, basic amenities...
Please tell us how you would solve housing, transit, public services, homelessness, mental health, drugs, violent crime and infrastructure issues. News flash, it's not as easy as you think. Perhaps a Mayor who leans far to the left would solve everything. lol

The strong Mayor powers are granted to whomever is Mayor. If a "non-corrupt" left wing (as we know left wing politicians are never corrupt) Mayor is voted in next time, they will have the same powers. I can guarantee you, they won't be complaining about them like they were when they were granted to Tory. lol

It's going to get worse depending on who the next mayor is unless the Province pitches in with more funds.

Why would the Province pitch in with more funds to the city (Toronto) with the lowest property tax rate in the entire province of Ontario?

10% increases coming to towns around the greenbelt to cover for Ford letting developers off of development fees.

Tory didn't do anything to help the city, even his transit plan is a bit of a shitshow, Metrolinx is building it while the TTC deals with Rob Ford's expansion plans stealing resources from general maintenance.
TTC rates go up, service sucks and its less safe.

Leaving the city with a 5.5% property tax increase.
Because we all know a left leaning Mayor would never raise taxes like that. 🤦‍♀️

If only the left were running everything, we wouldn't have any issues in the city and everything would be perfect. You live in dreamland.

We'd get service increases with higher taxes at least.
Ford keeps cutting services, health care and education.

Developers get tax breaks and we have to pay for them under Ford.
Tory didn't fix anything.

That may change as the property taxes go up.

He went through COVID and handled it well. It isn't a surprise the City has to now claw and scratch its way back out. I don't believe anyone else would have handled it better. We shall see what the new incoming mayor does but it will not be an easy job.

You're living in dreamland if you think that by simply electing left leaning politicians, it will solve everything. There's already lots lefties on council and guess what, Tory's budget passed with a vote of 25-1.

As for the province, how well was it being run by the Liberals? You must have a short memory. Why do you think they were voted out and left with just 7 seats.

Here's a few reasons, in case you've forgotten.

- Ornge
- Skyrocketing hydro rates
- Cancelled gas plants
- Cuts to front-line health care
- eHealth
- Doubling the debt
- School closures
- Lining the pockets of Liberal insiders
- PanAm Games
- Liberal waste

Your assertion that Conservatives are corrupt and Liberals aren't is simply laughable.

Time to elect someone with new ideas and the right amount of energy in the office behind the desk, rather than someone who spent tax payers $$
on expensive trips to sleep with female staff. No wonder Toronto has huge budget deficit. I hope Tory's wife takes him out to the cleaners.
He has the nerve to use his Rogers connections to land his girl friend a new job at MLSE.

Of course it won't solve 'everything'.
But it won't make things as bad as Ford has done with health care, education, greenbelt and transit.
