Vlady dislikes Atkins almost as much as Whitt Marrifield does, one of them has to go. If Atkins is secured until the end of the 2026 season, Vlady is gone.

lol when Guerrero hits home runs and he’s hot, I don’t mind his homer trot anymore. Such a bandwagon jumping double standard.

Unless Ross Atkins is fired immediately and someone else steps in to make these moves at the trade deadline, I really think this franchise is committing PR suicide. Just go to google and type in the name “Ross Atkins“ and it’s nothing but negativity and consistent constant callings to fire him. No exaggeration. It’s like going to YouTube and typing in “diddy” absolutely no support for him and absolutely nothing favourable.

It's common in the MLSE executive ranks for an employee who's been marked for death to receive a modest contract extension, followed by an 'in name only' promotion to a new portfolio where he can't do any damage.

The return for Kikuchi would have been higher, if they had traded him two starts ago. Ditto for Danny Jansen, who was batting over .300 with a 1.000+ OPS as recently as May 25, (currently ..218 and under .700). Now there's little to no chance of trading Bichette during this season, since there's a strong possibility he might not play again before 2025.

I don't understand this strategy of waiting until the last minute to try to deal expiring contracts. A rental player is worth more if you have him for three or four months, instead of two. If the Jays actually thought they were going to turn THIS season around two months ago, that would help explain why they're in this hole from which it will take years to dig out. The fans aren't helping by continuing to fill the park - home attendance hasn't dropped yet, but it will.

Heard more booing during yesterday's game than I have in a long time. The natives are getting restless.
.. apparently they were chanting “fire Ross Atkins”

Buddy boy has it pretty rough right now.

I suspect that Shapeero will be kept very closely informed and involved in regards to any potential moves.

The price goes up as more teams compete for rentals. that is why

You don't need to let Atkins go until the end of the season, unless his intent is to add to the team at the deadline, or not sell impending FA's.... and there is nothing to suggest that is his plan. No point to rush his firing, when best candidates to run this franchise in the future would be available in October vs July.

End of the season certainly he 100% needs to be gone (if not we riot), as those are big picture decisions that really impact the future of the team and need someone with a different vision... bichette, Guerrero, concept of "re-tool" vs "rebuild, how we use analytics, hitting coaches, new manager:. His work post 2021 in terms of vision for the MLB team speaks for itself - and not in a good way..

But in terms of trading upcoming FA's, for B and C level prospects he is capable of doing that, especially since none of our impending FA's are big ticket assets right now. It's not something that we need a new GM for. These aren't major "vision" moves. Gather some B and C level prospects and hope some hit - he is professional enough to do that capably. As a reminder in 2017, Atkins traded Franciso Liriano, a pitcher that went 8-13 4.69 in 2016 and 6-7 5.66 in 2017, and got a fringe prospect in return at that time called..... Teoscar Hernandez.

Excellent post. You’re right. I wish it was an AA move, but it wasn’t. Mr. Analytics pulled the trigger on that deal and he scored.

His replacement is most likely already in the organization. The guy that made the Astros a winning organization(can't remember his name).

I just saw Steve Phillips say Ross Atkins should remain because he’s made the playoffs four times in nine years… lol.

I wonder how much Atkins paid him to write this. Guy was being uber selective on what he included. Yes Atkins has made some good deals these ones immediately come to mind

Francisco Liriano for Teoscar Hernandez and Nori Aoki
Travis Bergen for Robbie Ray
Simeon Woods-Richardson and Austin Martin for Jose Berrios

He's also made some bad deals

J.A. Happ for Brandon Drury and Billy McKinney
Josh Donaldson for Julian Merryweather
Liam Hendriks for Jesse Chavez
Daniel Hudson for Kyle Johnston (who?)
Marcus Stroman for Woods-Richardson and Anthony Kay
Rowdy Tellez for Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis
Teoscar Hernandez for Erik Swanson
But the worst was trading Gabriel Moreno and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. for Daulton Varsho. That sealed it for me.

Josh Donaldson for Julian Merryweather
Blair and Barker were just talking about this trade. In all fairness Donaldson wasn’t worth much at this moment due to injury, and Merryweather with his 100 mph was showing some promise.. Too bad his fastball was as flat as a doormat and he got hammered all over the place. And Donaldson had that one more great year in Atlanta which definitely does sting a little bit.

There was a trade in place prior to this involving Donaldson to the Cardinals that was way better but ownership wanted to keep J.D. to sell tickets.

Watching the Mad Dash on YouTube, is like watching the video Get Into The Groove by Madonna. Just an enjoyable video experience from beginning to end.
