2023 is the most unusual stats line for a leadoff hitter, ever.
Personally, I don't like the OPS stat, because it essentially credits batting average twice. On Base Percentage plus Isolated Power, (Slugging Percentage minus Batting Average), is much more meaningful. It approximates the fraction of a base earned by the batter per plate appearance. Adding Hit by Pitch plus Stolen Bases minus 1.5 * Caught Stealing minus Ground into Double Play to the numerator would be even better. The equation would be:
(TB + BB + HBP + SB) - (GDP + [1.5 * CS])/PA
For Schwarber in 2023, the figure would be:
(277 + 126 + 6 + 0) - (4 +3) = 402/720 = .558
