Here's hoping to a much improved 2018 season. Still some positives to take away from 2017 - Stroman asserted himself as a dominant front line pitcher. Smoak had a career season and upped his trade value immensely. The minor league seasons of Vladimir Guerrero Jr(18)and Bo Bichette(19) at A ball. The former is now rated a top 5 MLB prospect. The Jays AFL affiliate Peoria won the championship with many of their players having a solid contribution - SP TJ Zeuch, OF Jonathan Davis SS Lourdes Gurriel and RP Andrew Case.

Player movement has already started to occur, a few teams have signed a 'lesser' FA or 2.
There are fewer trades now than in past years, but usually when 1 happens, 2 or 3 more follow shortly as teams react to the 1st one.
Free agency is different from hockey, there's no stampede to get players signed.

Winter Meetings start December 10, expect activity there, if not before.

Not a whole lot of activity so far. I suspect many teams are saving their money for next year’s free agent crop which is supposed to be the best all-time.

It's a domino effect. Many teams are waiting to see what happens with Stanton. When Stanton gets moved, JD Martinez will get signed. Many teams are still trying to get a feel for the market because the market is the most unpredictable it's been in a long time, possibly ever.

Actually quite a few teams are focusing their energy on the Shohei Ohtani bid. Until that is sorted out, not much happening on the free agent / trade front.

Read a piece the other day on the Jays and what they need to do this off season. Their view point is that this is another year to go all in as their current core is not getting any younger. Toronto fan base can be fickle and everyone is still some what riding the highs from the 15/16 seasons. As bad as 2017 were, both attendance and TV viewership were still tops in the league. Toronto has no other MLB teams have - the whole country behind them. With all the things ownership wanted to do to upgrade the stadium and stuff they need the revenue to continue to roll in. If the Jays have another dismal season in 2018 especially early on, the dome will revert to its half empty days a few years back and all the interest and momentum they have gotten from 15/16 will go back to waste again.

Not go all in but all out and rebuild for the future.

Yes a down year next year but revaluate at the end of next year and get free agents to con tend year after with a team for the future

TraDE dONALDSON AS HE IS FREE AGENTafter next year anyways and if they want him back buy him back as a FA

That's an excellent signing, and I presume the end for Tulo
(unless he's OK with a backup role)
I think your presuming wrong. This guy has barley two year of MLB service, and last year was nothing to write home about. He still has lots to prove. Tulo, despite being on a decline, still has lots left in the tank, and is a proven vet. This guy is insurance and a better alternative than Goins/Barney when Tulo and Travis both go on the DL, which we all know is going to happen at some point...lol.

First year he hit .300 with 17hr and 65 rbi and was also an all-star. Last year he was injured part of the season and only had 300 at bats. I reckon you're right that Tulo will probably start the season, but if he goes into another early season slump I can see Diaz taking over very quickly.

Only concern is his defense, he was 4th in the league in making errors at ST.
He can also play 3B, 2B and left-field, which is another bonus
