6 Teams eliminated, 4 still alive.
According to Fangraphs the Cubs are the likeliest team to win the World Series with 30.4% probability while the Jays the second most likely team to win it all at 26.9%.

Fangraphs also says the Jays have a 52.4 chance of beating Royals while the Cubs have a 56.3% chance of beating Mets.
So, Fangraphs predicts a Jays Cubs world series and if it comes down to that 95% of Americans will be cheering for the Cubs since it seems like they're everyone's second favourite team down there.

Not this year for the Cubs. It will be 118 years for the Cubs.

How about a ws of Mets vs Jays and somehow there is a game with a pitching matchup of Dickey vs. Syndegard ( unlikely but possible )

Looking into Sinefeld's comments further.

Jerry and R.A Dickey have a friendship, the main reason why he wants the Jays in the WS. And he is a Mets fan.

Trust me it will happen. At least I don't have to go to bed late if Jays have to play the Dodgers on the west coast time zone during this year WS:)

Mets got beaten up pretty bad by the Yankees in September and the Yanks themselves were not exactly world beaters at the time. Our record against the Mets was 2:2, IIRC.

I don't know anything about the Cubs, except a lot of adulation for Arrieta.

The best weapon (arguably) that the Cubs have is Joe Madden: a great manager if ever there was one.

no question that Joe Madden is the best manager in baseball. Ned Yost is pretty good too. But all of us who had any thing negative to say about Mr. Gibbons have been silenced. I do think an argument can be made that managers are less important than ever in the whole scheme of things.
