Same fucking shit 3 times this game, can't get fucking runs in when it counts, nobody fucking out.

Ogre will go and blow donaldson and tell him everything is ok. Goins is ogres full time short stop and they won't even let him hit at crunch time, you sure know the game butt wipe.

0-12, with men in scoring position...

Explains that heartbreaking loss...

Was very surprised he brought Asuna in...

Man on third, no one out and they lose...Pathetic.
Against one of the best closers in baseball. Happens all the time.

At least they didn't have to use Stroman so now he won't have to miss his next scheduled start.

Was a fun run, and the Jays made it very interesting against Davis.

All night the Jays stranded runners, the 9th was no exception. To have a guy on 3rd, and not bring him in was brutal. Not even a sac fly from Navarro. Ben Revere was pissed for good cause, but both sides faced a 'missed' call...
In the end, Donaldson took the wrong night off to seal the deal.

Better team won, many thanks to the Jays for a fantastic season!
Thank you Kath!!

To be honest, that was the best 3 months of sports fan-dom I have had for decades. The team went from its normal mediocrity with the Price / Tulo trades and almost immediately became one of the elite teams in the AL. It chewed up the division-leading Yankees, humiliated them repeatedly and dethroned them. It fustigated the LA Angels to the point they took a couple of weeks to recover. It won the first division pennant in over two decades. It dropped its first 2 playoff games to Texas because it was too tight to play effectively and then won 3 in a row. And it might have come back against KC with a little luck. Not bad for a team which had done fuck all since 1993.

The team has a lot of cohesion and tons of personality. We got to know Colabello, who hit over .300 in his first season as a major leaguer. We got to know Pillar and Osuna. Josh Donaldson will almost certainly win AL MVP. Bautista proved himself a formidable clutch playoff star and one of the most obnoxious little fuckers who ever annoyed other teams and their fans. And Estrada, who was supposed to be an average middle reliever and ended up having the 5th best ERA in the AL.

Shame it had to end like this. But we went down fighting and on the heels of a 7-1 victory in our last home game.

Bautista has his allies, most notably David Ortiz. Where he fits in to AA long term plan remains to be seen. Hopefully he and Shapiro can work together well and Rogers doesn't fuck things up. Gibby may be done, he made a tactical mistake by not going for home field advantage. KC had a better bullpen but they may not be able to pay them the future salaries that they'll command. Their future is now. I thoroughly enjoyed this season, it may have been too much to ask of them to win it all on the first attempt. In the early 90's the Jays gained valuable experience by losing to the Twins in 91, history may repeat itself.

I'm slightly miffed by one item: why didn't Juan Guzman get to throw out a first pitch instead of Vernon Wells? Between 91-93 he won every playoff game he pitched except one (Henke got the win), what did Wells ever do.

I'm left pondering on what could have been... and as fans, always wanting things to go our way, we question things when they don't:

  • Why did Gibby not make a concerted effort to secure home field advantage.
  • Why did he give Price such a long "rest".
  • Why did he not hook Dickey sooner.
  • Why was Moustakas ground rule double ruled a HR after fan interference?
  • Why did he go to Asuna prematurely.

But ultimately its the players on the field that came up short... and left far too many runners on base when they needed a hit...

Having said all that, it's like Oagre said, its been a helluva ride the last 3 months!
