Jays struggling a bit down 2-0 early, what is it about TB pitching? We can't seem to get much offence going against these guys. Hopefully they can get something going during the last 7 innings.

Jays power hitters don't have their timing down yet. Not unusual.

I don't know. Tense game now, all tied up at 2.

I really hope we win this one, but we look set to rally soon. I'm not worried particularly, it's the second week of the season.

Blah...

Time for the jays to start hitting for power. I'm not liking the slow turf. Most of our runs in the roadtrip were small ball; it's harder to do that if the ball doesn't fly down the field easily.

Tampa has pitched well, (so did Dickey minus that one bad inning).

It's early- just don't like losing to what most believe to be the worst AL east team.

:(

Jays lose again to the Rays, I don't understand it. Terrible game for Martin 0-4 at the plate and allows 4 stolen bases of which 2 came around to score. Worst part is this Rays team is a shadow of the quality teams they had a few years ago. Oh well better luck tomorrow.

I know, it's a tough loss especially with all the hype around this ball club, but that's the only attitude that can be adopted right now. Like I said, if we split the series at 2/2 I'll be good. Two weeks into the season I think is a bit early to be giving up lol:) Good play by Martin to get that guy out though!

Yeah could be the turf though, it seems to be slowing the ball down a bit. Far too early in the season to call, though. There were some heads-up plays by Martin and Pillar, but we didn't win, which makes me sad.

Nice to see Martin showing his defensive side though. We need more of that. As saxon says, better luck tomorrow. At this point, if we split the series I'm good.

I was at the game....I thought a key thing was when with men on first and second, 2 out....Reyes gets big hit into the gap.....why was Travis held at third? You got to take a shot there.....anybody mention that on tv or radio? Even if he gets thrown out, Pompey leads off next inning and you take credit for aggressive play. If he scores, we have the lead

This is what pisses me off so much as well.
I seem to recall the Jays always having trouble with them since they came into the league.

Yes, still early but that goes out the window fast as we found out last season.

Listening to Jeff Blair this morning, he and Jon Merosi (sp?) from Fox sports who regularly comes on to talk baseball both saying that Tampa may have been underestimated.

They can't hit but they can run once on base. Their pitching is only going to improve (they have a few starters on the DL- last night's pitcher was making his MLb start ever..)

I predict they'll finish above the Yankees but below Baltimore and Toronto... Maybe (hopefully), even above Boston.

On the bright note: the Yankees suck and Boston's pitching has been awful.

It's early days- the Jays are going to be fine, (hopefully the turf will settle), balls will start flying once the dome opens, Martin will remember how to hit, the middle of the order will heat up. We've only really lost 3 games. We beat ourselves in the bullpen blow up game in NY. Nothing to worry about.

I think the biggest competition for TO in our division is Baltimore. They're a good team- especially if Jimminez continues to pitch well.

I guess we can be thankful about all the advanced hype on Martin and downgrading of Navarro. Because I think Martin has not only looked bad at the plate...he is getting passed balls and errors defensively...maybe the worst week of playing since Juan Francisco started waving at breaking balls. Meanwhile Dioner looks like a hitter every time up.

Tampa really cannot hit. Even with total ineptitude from Jays' bats, the T-Rays squeaked their wins by the narrowest of margins. But they have good pitching and defence. Fact.

And they can steal bases....

if the jays hit to their ability, we would've won both games.

Today is starting on a more positive note :)

Now a 10-1 blow out of the T-Rays. Frustrating in the sense that 2 each of those runs last night and Monday would have won them 2 more games and now those extra runs are pretty much wasted in beating up on the weak links in the TB staff and general useless wanking.

And tomorrow, Rays send out Archer who probably shuts the Jays out, so they go 1-3 on the series.

Sex-ay game! Wow

I turned it back on at 12-3. It was 5-0 when I had to turn the game off earlier. I saw pillar's catch and pompey's hr live but missed most of the game.

This is our team. This is why there was never a reason to stress. :D

It's gonna be tough call when saunders comes back.

:) :) :)

Stop being a Debbie downer :p

I like Archer tho... I hope we crush him but I cheer for him when we aren't playing him... :)
