Rumor has it Jays wanna trade for Papelborn. I'd be very happy with trading Encarnacion for a closer instead of a starting pitcher. In fact a closer might be more of a priority than a starter right now. My only concern is he's 34 yrs old.
A reliable grade A, top 10 slugger is far more valuable than an aging closer whose arm might blow next week or who might lose 10 mph off his fastball next spring.

BTW, have you noticed how averages for power hitters have dropped all around the league? Maybe it's the shift, but Ortis is hitting about the same level as EE. Chris Davis about the same. And there are Astro sluggers who are around the .200 mark.

But they are not criticized here because they don't play for Toronto.

Sure, except EE isnt getting any younger either

When I started following baseball in 80's the average fastball was only 87 to 88 MPH. Now its gotta be a lot higher, maybe 90 to 91 MPH??

Remember Bill Caudill, he was supposed to be a big deal with his 90 MPH fastball which he supposedly could spot. He flopped of course, but even a healthy Caudill today would be an average pitcher at best, his 90 MPH velocity doesnt mean shit anymore.

Maybe the rise in pitchers who throw a lot harder has something to do with power number being down over the last decade or so

No, I said trade him for a starting pitcher while he's still "young". Speaking of intelligence, reading comprehension is very important. Try reading better:

"Hhmmm...............
I call bullshit.

I say Jays are thinking about letting him go.
He's fucking shit up in a hurry with his .216 batting average !!!!!!"

Perhaps before you take a shot at my intelligence you should try to sort through the volumes of idiotic crap that you post on here and get your facts right. If you have problems understanding what you wrote, leave extra spaces between the words and that will help you to read real slow .
BTW-you spelled IQ wrong in your board name. It looks like and "A" and a "K", instad of an "I" and a "Q". Your estimate of 47 is probably a tad high as well.
Pehaps a rebranding from AK-47 to IQ between 4 and 7 would be appropriate.

To steal somebody's joke from another site: with the call-up of Phil Coke, the Jays now have Coke and Cola.

First of all, you might wanna learn how to quote properly.
After that learn how to spell properly before you accuse others of a low IQ

Last but not least, when you trade him you are still letting him go, arent you??
You're just getting something in return, thats all

Let's hope Josh Donaldson doesn't get invited to the home run derby. That thing can really screw up your swing and/or wrist.

I don't care about learning how to quote properly, so the fact is I might not want to learn how to quote properly. Quoting properly on an adult review board is not one of life's really essential skills, but I have a feeling you have a very low awareness of what a useful or essential skill actually is. Hence the velcro straps on your shoes.
Second, if the best you can do to discredit me is to highlight a typo, you are a bigger moron than I thought. Which is hard to fathom.
Third, when you used the term "letting him go", you were referring to releasing him. Everyone knows that who has read it, and if you say that's not true you're just lying. Period. The only thing worse than a liar is a stupid liar, so how about tell the truth and just focus on being stupid. You've found something you do extremely well, so continue excelling where you can.

I noticed :biggrin1:

Its not, but its so easy even a child could do it. So where does that leave you??

Oh, I can do better than that

If that were true smartypants, then why did I say in a previous post I wanted to trade him??

You sound really angry btw. Do you have a drug problem, perhaps??
Or maybe you dont get enough sex (or maybe its a combination of both?).

I hope you find more happiness in your life :thumb:

Buster, AK, let's leave the personal attacks for the Politics section. I hardly go there anymore because it seems every thread devolves into a "You're a dummy!" "No, you're a dummy" within a page or two. In this thread, most or all of us are Jays fans. We might have different ideas of how they can go about being successful but, in the end, we want the same thing.

Agree to disagree and move on.

A lot of the sluggers are hitting for low averages, I think most of them are just trying to hit the home run every time up. Take a look at how many strikeouts some of these guys have. Stanton has struck out over 80 times this year already.

Might also have something to do with hitters not being juiced up on steroids like they used to be.
There was a sharp upward spike in runs scored in MLB starting with the 1993 season and lasting until about the 2009 season and the trend line for total runs scored has been going down since the 2010 season.
Guys like Eric Chavez of the A's used to look like the incredible hulk during the steroid era and once stricter testing came in he looked like just a regular guy. But, maybe that's just a coincidence.

You know the Blue Jays have 21 outs (as of posting) to play with still?
